Customer Insights: Rated 4.3/5 from 204 reviews.
I like the heavy duty shelves for my garage items but this shelf works perfectly for my indoor storage. It was simple to setup and feels very sturdy once put together. I would buy again.
This is the second house in 2 years that we have had these shelving units installed. This first house I paid someone to do it, and the second house I installed them with the help of a friend who is also a great handyman. We installed this 4' x 8' and three 2' x 8' shelves in about 4 hours and couldn't be happier with the results. Due to the way the rafters were running in the attic and things like the attic access steps and garage door supports I called the customer service line to get their advice on installing the storage rack supports in an alternate way. The Customer service rep was very helpful and knowledgeable about what I was asking and needed to do. This is a great product that immediately allowed me to clean up my garage. I would recommend this product to anyone.
Sturdy good for organizing and will last a lifetime
Great product, we did the 4x8 loft and ended up having to put it up in two pieces. The ceiling was high and it was heavy for two of us to get it up that far. We figured it out though. Split it in half and was able to hang out and then put it back together.
I put it up twice in one afternoon! First time I failed to take the garage doors into full consideration. Second time it went up super fast. I will likely get another.
Wonderful storage solution product. I put this together as an amateur. I needed help from a few others to complete the placement of the base when hanging to the ceiling brackets. If I can do it - you can too! Having your own effective tools will be helpful but not necessary. Sturdy materials with quality feel.
I used the old adage, "Preparation and careful foundation-laying will make the job go easy." After carefully laying out the overhead brackets and measuring to ensure that the hanging portion of the bracket was correct, I got some friends to help lift the rack up there. It fit right in the first try! (I left brackets slightly loose to take up any give & take; I highly recommend doing this.) After tightening everything, the rack was very solid and gave me a lot of confidence that lit would work. Loading it up was easy; I am very happy with the typical Gladiator quality (I've got lots of other Gladiator products). I highly recommend this product to others. Just make sure to get that initial layout correct!
I am very happy with them now that they are up (I bought 2 of them). The nightmare installation was mostly my own unique situation. I didn't measure properly the height above my garage when it was opened. The railings have 24" of clearance but when the garage is opened there is only about 23" of clearance. This meant I couldn't use the upper and lower mounting arms. I had to only use the lower arms, however there are no holes drilled in those for attaching to the ceiling supports. I had to drill my own, which isn't that big of a deal. The 2nd cluster, was the joists in my ceiling changed direction at the halfway point where I was installing these. This made getting things lined up/square an absolute nightmare. I have 2 suggestions: 1) Have holes drilled so that the lower arms can be attached to the ceiling supports. This saves a couple inches for those with less space above their garage doors. 2) I know it would be a big piece of paper, but a template would go a long way in helping get things placed properly and square. Most of my challenges were from my own unique situation and the fault of Gladiator, but those couple things would good to have anyways.
