We are ordering our third storage rack. We used the 2x8ft Hammered Granite. It is sturdy, and holds a good amount of boxes. So far no indication of flimsy or low quality long term over the last 3 months. My husband was able to install by himself. It was a challenge to find the studs and I would suggest using two people to install.
Super easy to assemble and good quality. Best part for me was how easy it was to modify. Needed it to be higher To clear my garage door by 2” and was able to modify it to have the clearance. Once assembled looked great a freed up a bunch of floor space.
These Storage racks are fantastic! Incredibly solid and well constructed. The instructions are well written. Putting them up took a bit because of the way my trusses were laid out. But after I figured taht out they went up easily.
I liked the 2 foot wide dimensions, it fit perfectly between the two roll up garage doors. It's sturdy and easy to assemble. I really like the Gladiator products
Everything came in right and looks great. It was exactly what was expected. Installation is a little rough with lining up the dropdown points with the spacing of the strut used to attach to the structure, but it was no harder than I expected.
Works as expected and is a clean addition to our garage. Love the look, it's a bit expensive but the simplicity and ease of use is very nice.
Shipping took awhile, other than that, very useful when freeing up floor space. I own a low car so it doesn't get in the way, installation took some time and I'd probably pay someone to do it to avoid drilling over the wrong area and just save the headache. The feet can be adjusted to go along with the beams in the ceiling so that's also good. Overall it's an awesome purchase, would consider getting a bigger one in the future.
5 stars when installed. However the process of installing yourself is much more difficult than I was expecting. The shelf itself, after installed, is solid.
2x8' was delivered in white not gray. It also was 4x4' not 2x8'. I am completely happy with the 4x4' but wished the color was correct. These are minor issues. The product durability is fantastic and is still a great product. It took almost 2 months to get the product, supply chain has multiple constraints currently.
The 2'x8' unit is not conducive for ceilings with joists set 16” apart. The instructions require you to install into a joist using the end holes on the upper supports. Well those supports are 26” long, so if you're running your unit perpendicular to your joists you can only hit one (when using the holes at either end of the support). If you're running it parallel, the unit is only 2' wide, so you can get one side into the joist, but then you're 8” shy of the other joist. With this being a ceiling unit I don't feel comfortable using anchors, so I ended up running a 2'x4' perpendicular to my joists and then attaching my upper brackets to that. For something that should have taken an hour or two, this has turned into a multi-day nightmare. Do not recommend if you're joists are set 16” apart.
