For the price, the value is evident. However, I have had to contend with the crank arm coming loose from the spindle. The bolt holding the crank arm to the spindle is a weird proprietary design requiring a special bit. The shape is like a hex cavity with a little pin in the center. After calling Glarewheel and receiving the tool in the mail, I t9ghtened the bolt and resumed riding. A few days later, the bolt loosened again. I had to retighten the bolt, but this time, the bolt started becoming rounded. I thus have two choices: apply Loctite to see of the bolt will stay, or upgrade the crank arm, bottom bracket, and the chainring. After upgrading the seat and flimsy pedals, I have decided to upgrade the crank arm, chainring, and bottom bracket, which will cost at least $50-$100 for a quality setup. As such, the eb-x5 is a decent value for the price, but will require sinking more money to made it roadworthy. The seat was really uncomfortable, and the pedals broke with a week Bottom-line: this bike is relatively cheap for a reason: they cut corners on everything except perhaps the frame, battery, and motor. If you want this bike to last for awhile, I suggest upgrading the seat, pedals, and front drivetrain. The brakes need tightening but aren't terrible. They are a no-name mechanical disc brake system that can probably be upgraded in the future—if companies offer models that activate the brake lights when pressing the brake levers. Don't expect much customer support or spec info, tho. Making this bike rideable will require some time, money, and, most importantly, research.
I TRIED SO HARD TO LIKE IT BUT IM LOOSING HOPE SECOND TIME RIDONG (BARELY RIFING JUST CRUISING WITH MY FRIEND WHO WAS WALKING) PEDAL CRACK ONE AFTER THE OTHER ($30 FOR NEW FOLDABLE PEDALS AT NEAR BIKE SHOP) WENT ON TO RIDE NOTICED BREAKS TOO WEAK SHOP SAYS I MAY NEED NEW ONES. I LOOKED AT HIM CRAZY TOLD HIM ITS A BRAND NEW BIKE BUT AFTER COMPARING MINES AND MY SPOUSES BREAKS IM CONVINCED HES RIGHT.
