Glory (4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray)

Love this movie since I was little. The amazing work by the actors, especially Denzel Washington. It was a great Civil War movie about one of the first African American regiments to serve in the US Civil War. I'm glad they got to remaster it into 4k quality.

Fantastic story and presentation in the movie itself. I have only re-watched most of the climax scene in 4K of this movie. I have already watched this movie several times in the past in SD and HD; so my review will be speaking on that little part of the movie I have re-watched in 4K. And will be about the quality of the physical copy and movie versus the movie itself (I'm sure others have covered that already). I have already captured details I have not seen before. For example, a part where someone's body flies into the air, I can now clearly tell it was a dummy. And the blood now looks more fake than before. The colors and details pop. But so does the film grain with Dolby Vision HDR. So that's the trade-off of having a 1989 film that never expected to be watched in 4K now in 4K. Kinda like when others said they watched 'Wizard of Oz' in 4K and it took some of the magic away from watching the film because now they can see extra details such as the uneven makeup on the actors which is a distraction for them. But again, the rest of the scene I watched was beautiful in 4K on a decent Samsung TV. I can't say much of the sound since the speaker setup here is lackluster; down sampling from the 7.1 Dolby Atmos to probably 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround but I only have a 3.1 setup as of current at the place I am temporarily staying at. The 4K disc's menus slide from option to option which is a neat effect that I have never seen before on a 4K disc. Although it does slow down movement going from selection to selection. Case is simple with disc eyes that are very simple which explains why the discs came off them during shipment. The plastic case used is thinner overall than other 4Ks I have. Code was included for the digital version of this movie. Recommended for people who already have the movie in SD or HD and want the extra details and better sound. But not for first timers or younger people who will probably be distracted by all of the less advanced special effects used.

Glory is a great movie with amazing performances by Matthew Broderick, Denzel Washington, Morgan Freeman Etc. The movie is based on the first black soldiers fighting for the US during the civil war. There's characters based on real people Broderick who plays the real life Union Army Officer Colonel Robert Gould Shaw who took on the controversial task of commanding the 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment the first all black fighting units in the Civil War. none of the other characters as far as I know are based on real people but the performances are amazing especially Denzel Washington who won an oscar for best supporting actor. for his role as private Silas Trip. the filmmakers took a lot of Liberties on some of the history for dramatic effect but there are a lot of things that are accurate like when the African-Americans men's refusal to accept lower pay than white soldiers. also Matthew broderick's role is Colonel Shaw is mostly accurate which to not spoil the movie too much I won't go into if you haven't seen it. definitely a highly recommended movie especially in the new remastered 4K format.

Glory is an excellent telling of the story of one of the first all black regiment to fight for the union in the civil war... excellent performances keeps you interested throughout.

Movie is stunning in 4K!!

Have always liked this movie. Seen it several times and wanted to finally own it on 4k.

Great movie, and looks awesome via HDR colors

I already own this movie on Blu-ray, but since it is one of my favorite films, I wanted to see it in 4K. And it did not disappoint. I highly recommend this great film on any format, but it was exceptional in 4K!

i saw this as a college student and it inspired me to become a civil war reenactor. it is a poweeful story and definitely collection worthy
