love it.... an my mom is a history nut and she loves old movies about history and she like to watch things like this to see if they really go by what really happened in history.

Good info about some Civil War battles and the Generals and other officers that will be instrumental in other battles, leading to Gettysburg, this year being the 150th anniversary of the "Battle of Gettysburg". Good Value.

It's a good movie about the Civil War and Robert Duvall is the perfect man to play General Robert E. Lee. Although, I expected to see more of General Lee but was disappointed.

Civil War History
This is the best war film ever that helps up to remember our Christian heritage through the attitudes and the diligence of the Confederate and Union Soldiers fighting against one another, yet they have no problems expressing their faith! I recommend this to everyone who have reached the age to see some blood and war violence and want to know about true American history.

Excellent historical movie of our nation divided
Gods and Generals along with Gettysburg tell the story of an intense and important time in American history. Great scenic work, battle scenes, costumes, facts on men, leaders and - causes men fought and died for. Excellent performance by Jeff Daniels. Daniels plays Colonel Chamberlain, and C. Thomas Howell plays his brother, they worked well together. In my opinion Robert Duvall, at times, seemed to get lost in his focus on speaking with a southern accent over portraying the character of Robert E. Lee, but perhaps that was his character choice, otherwise good cast and good performances. History buffs, get both DVD's. Parents teach your kids history they are probably not learning in school. History is not always politically correct!

This movie is one of the few pictures that was truly factual. Enjoyed it very much.

The truth is good!
Very forceful presentation of our American history. When I watched President Lincoln invade his own country and kill tens of thousands of his own citizens it caused me to reconsider the accomplishments of that leader. You should watch this movie and draw your own conclusion. It is well worth the price just for the information and truth it imparts let alone the entertainment value.
