The (grand)daddy of them all
What you get here is the original Japanese flick (in 4k) and the American reworking (in 1080p). As someone who grew up with the latter, it's always a bit strange to revisit the former, as it's a much more serious movie. The 4k presentation is far from perfect, with some of the issues coming from the source (we're talking a 70-year-old movie featuring antiquated effects methods), and others arising from the clean-up methods. A nice selection of extras is also included.

Great if you can purchase for half price.
This was my first Criterion Film. The film comes in a very thin slipbox and feels cheap. The 4k movie comes in a cardboard fold out like the old DVD's would. At half price, in my opinion the film is worth the purchase. At full price over 50, absolutely not. Thin cardboard is way to cheap for a 50 dollar film. Compared to the hard slipcases from Scream Factory, this can not compare. The transfer however is beautiful. And Godzilla never looked better.
