You can mix this gel with your heavy body paints to extend their open working time. Great for working on the gelli plate or painting with a brush.

Here in California we have a 9 months of very hot and dry weather. In my mural work, Acrylic paint dries way too fast. Golden Open Acrylic Medium allows longer working times with acrylics and I rely on this product to create my award winning murals.

I use Golden mediums in my acrylic painting a lot, and the open mediums are wonderful! Acrylic paint needs to be worked quickly, as it dries quickly, but the open mediums keep the paint wet and fresh on the pallet as well as on the paper or canvas, allowing better blending and workablity. I highly recommend these mediums, which, by the way, work beautifully with other brands of acrylic paint. I prefer Golden's, however.

The open quality is most beneficial for it allows blending not usually found in Acrylics. I question the chrmaticity level and will know more after some more painting.

I use the soft gel to give a coat or two over paintings and collage before the final UV varnish coat is applied. I must be putting on thick layers, because it seems to be going fast.

There are so many uses for this gel! Give it a try as a way to extend your paint, and also to give your acrylic painting a softer look in places, such as when painting clouds.

Good product, just as you would expect from Golden.

I was anticipating this being a better top coat and also adhesive. It's not a bad product, but not what I was personally expecting.
