I have been wanting to create a compost pile for years. However, I'm older and don't want to aggravate my shoulder injuries by having to turn one by hand and remember to do so in a timely fashion. Also I have budget constraints and many of the manufactured composters ( that I thought were good/liked) were well above my budget. This composter, on sale, was within my budget and the reviews (esp. by older women ) were addressing all my concerns. The unit is tuff but not too heavy when empty. I have it out back and have seen that it is not difficult to rotate even without a handle/crank for leverage. Many of the ones that have cranks have metal stands and cranks that are going to rust and fail..also they are more expensive than those composers that sit below waist level. The remedy for being low ..a few concrete blocks or a set of saw horses etc. The unit arrived undamaged, in a timely fashion, was complete, and for me, the icing on the cake was the compost tea drain! I think I'm going to love it!! Even though this composer sits close to the ground
I'm so glad I bought this one; its the perfect size & very convenient for tumbling. Its pre-assembled & came with a stand, but it will be worth your while to add some bricks or blocks underneath to add that extra height for easy tumbling & filling. Also you may want to bore a couple holes at the bottom for draining the compost tea. Its worth every penny. Thank you
Small footprint, yet large interior capacity. Items decompose fast, black color heats unit up nicely during the day. I am not at the compost stage yet, it is Winter after all, but everything seems to be going along nicely. Also, I do not find the unit difficult to turn. One side of my bin is about half full and it has not been a problem yet. I am also not sure how the two bins could break apart at the connector as some reviewers stated, unless the design has been improved recently. The connections are solid, large areas of plastic, not easily broken. Overall I am very excited about this purchase and can not wait for my first batch of finished compost. Would highly recommend!
I got this to make compost instead of just burying it in the garden. I is extremely easy to use. I use leaves, grass clippings, and kitchen scraps to fuel it. Looking forward to its output.
I have been looking for a compost tumbler for some time now. This duel compartment was the best deal I could find. Good quality and good price.
Easy setup - just remove from box and place in a sunny spot!
We bought this product (Compost Wizard Dueling Tumbler) about three weeks ago. Very easy to setup and operate. The lids are easy to to remove and replace. My only improvement for this product would to be bigger. It's still a good size and easy to turn, We thought it would be bigger
Just started using my Compost Wizard Dueling Tumbler. I loved the fact that no assembly was required, aside from positioning the tumbler onto the base unit. I did place some bricks underneath to elevate the base so I can conveniently drain the compost tea from the side plug, once there is enough liquid collected in the base unit. Am glad to have this added compost tea feature. The screw-on lids are easy enough to secure and the size of the 2 openings is OK. Filling the bin is not a problem and I'm not sure yet if there will be any issues emptying out the contents when the compost is cooked. Have noticed gnat-like flying insects inside the bin; perhaps I need to add some more brown material to the kitchen scraps. So far, I am pleased with this purchase and glad for the free shipping!
So far, I've had this composter for about a month. It's my first ever composter and I'm trying to figure out what I should expect from it! The stuff I put into it to get started hasn't yet transformed into the lovely black compost I'm hoping for. In fact, I can still pretty much see exactly what I did put in. That said, the item arrived on time and was easy to set up in my garden. (The only "setup" required was removing the tumbler and base from the box and positioning them where I wanted.) The tumbler rolls very easy, so I give it a couple spins pretty much every day as I walk by. The only question will be how easy or difficult it will be to remove the compost if/when it is ready. A friend has the single tumbler version of this composter and has commented that getting the compost out was very difficult. However, with two portholes, I'm hoping that won't be my challenge.
I bought this a month ago and glad I did. Four stars instead of 5 is because it is sagging in the middle when I have both bens full and not sure how long it will last. Probably will have to put some type of wedge between the two cylinders. It appears to be a design and manufacturing flaw.
