I had seen these advertised but wasn't to sure about it. This is a gadget you will be glad to add. It is simple to use. Just cut the top off the pineapple and put the serrated end over the core and press down as you turn. Juice does come out so keep that in mind, I just sat mine in a bowl and that way I saved all the juices. When you get to the bottom you will feel it get real hard. Just wiggle and twist and the slices will come right out. Remove the handle and slide off. It will be in spiral form but just slice straight down one side and you will have slices. It takes me about 5 minutes to do a pineapple and I found that the fresher it is the easier it is to core. (and tastes better). This is plastic but very sturdy and easy to clean!!
I was surprised how easy this item sliced thru my pineapples and created a long swirl of tasty rings, leaving behind an empty vessel with only a core remaining. I thought it would be harder to twist but this cut right thru without stress. Once I had reached the bottom of the pineapple I pulled it out with the fruit attached and sat it in a plastic tub. Then I pushed the buttons and removed the knob, flipped the unit and slid the rings off. A few cuts with a knife produced beautiful, evenly cut rings of fruit. I had avoided buying fresh pineapple before but will now go out of my way to get them. This item is a game changer, recommended!
I absolutely am in love with this. I live pineapples but don't like to buy already cute or canned and cutting one of them is a task in itself. I was very skeptical about this and it looked very breakable but after saying oh well and ordering it I am so happy this sweet little thing is very strong and easy to peel the piña I will always buy another if this one breaks. Just cut the top off and jab in the top and start twisting when ur down enough u just pull and there you go!! This definitely makes my life easier.
I received the "PROfreshionals Pineapple Slicer and Corer, Yellow" free from Walmart Spark Reviewer to use and review. My husband is much happier because this product makes getting the edible pineapple out of the hard spiny shell very easy. Works exactly as promised. Recommend to all -- if you have never had fresh pineapple you are missing a treat!
I love pineapple, but had never sliced one - I always bought it precut. I was pleasantly surprised that the tool was easy to use and worked! I thought I would have to push hard, but no, the slicer cut easily and evenly. The package gave clear instructions and illustrations and also offered a tip on picking a ripe pineapple! This would be a great gift for the domestics in our lives!
We have always wanted to try one of these and I'm so glad we did. My kids were ecstatic to watch as we twisted to see the magic unfold. It's really neat. Getting it started was simple. After cutting the top off of the pineapple, you just push it into the pineapple meat a tad and begin to twist. It does all the work. In no time at all, we had sliced and cored pineapple pieces! I did twist a little too far and opened the bottom of the pineapples skin. So, juice went everywhere. But, other than that, it was a success. My kids were ready to go buy more pineapples so each one of them could have a turn. It's easy to clean and store. If you buy it, you won't regret it.
I received my PROfeshionals Pineapple Slicer and Corer and thought what a great idea it was. Anything that can make preparing a pineapple easier is a plus in my book. Let me start by saying if you don't want a mess, be sure to put the pineapple in a bowl before you begin. I didn't and had juice all over the place. I also needed a second set of hands to hold the pineapple while I did the coring and slicing. First you cut the top off the pineapple. Then you line up the corer to the center of the pineapple. Twist the corer until you get close to the bottom of the pineapple. Then pull straight up and the center of the pineapple will come out with it. It creates rings and leaves the shell in tact for other uses, like putting a dessert in and using it as the serving dish. Lastly, you push the button on the yellow handle to pop off the top and slide off the pineapple rings. They even give you information on how to tell if a pineapple is ripe. Even a green pineapple can be ripe. It should smell sweet and if you pull on two leaves at the top, if the leaves come loose, it is a ripe pineapple. The only thing I didn't like about the slicer, corer was that there was still some good pineapple left in the shell so I just cut that out with a knife. Overall, I did like the slicer, corer and I would recommend it to my family and friends.
This is just what I need to prepare one of my favorite fruits. The instructions on the back are very helpful including how to tell when a pineapple id ripe. I like the idea of using the outside once the fruit is taken out. I have only used it once, hoping it is durable since it is plastic but I plan on taking good care of it as I do my other plastic utensils.
This is the first time I've tried to use a corer like this. I'm not sure how it compared to others but this was just OK. I don't think I went deep enough so I needed to cut the pineapple open in order to get the rest of the pineapple out. I feel like it wastes alot of fruit using this product. I did like the size of the rings that I was able to get out, It was messy and alot of juice spilled. It did save time of doing it the old fashioned way. I will attempt to use it again now that I have some experience and will go deeper to try and retrieve all the fruit,
I found the pineapple slice/corer difficult to use. I was not strong enough to slice through the pineapple as I had hoped. I love fresh pineapple, but I found a knife easier to use than the corer. A stronger, younger person may not have any problems using the corer like I did though.
