This unit replaced my previous thermostat of 3 years. I did have to change the "O" wire setting has the unit would blow cold when asking for heat and vice versa. Upon changing the setting everything works perfect! I opted out of buying the 4th generation thermostat upon finding that it is now made as a proprietary system and no longer functions with other Home systems as they are moving to a platform that is completely controlled by Google. Not something we are interested in doing. If I have to replace again, I will go with the Ecobee system.
4th one I have purchased for our properties, love the ease of use especially using your phone if you are not at home near the unit. Piece of cake to install as well
Had to upgrade to the 3 generation thermostat because the nest app stopped working on the 2nd generation thermostat. This one works good. Glad to have the app working again.
It is $50 cheaper than other 3rd Generation Nest Thermostats you will find at other stores just because it is not in the new Google packaging! It is the exact same outside of the Nest logo instead of the G logo. It I called Google to make sure of this and the fact that they will still take care of any issues or assistance needs the same regardless of when it was manufactured. A 3 month difference in the manufacture
Out-dated, but well engineered product that is a direct replacement for Gen 1 %26 2 thermostats that Google discontinued for no good reason.
Easy to install would recommend u easy to install would recommend
Works so slick. Installed it in literally five minutes. Huge numbers and automatically back lit so I don't need my glasses to actually see the numbers. Be careful u hook up the wires correctly cause I didn't put the heat wire on right spot and my air conditioner started to run with a foot of snow on top of it. Unfortunately not all wiring is labeled the same on the thermostat so go onto the nest.com/wiring labels to view where u should put them.
This thermostat thinks it knows more than you and resets and changes too many settings. The old Nest products were much more straight forward and simple to program. Also Google forced me to brick two old thermostats which worked perfectly well. Google has become MUCH LESS customer focused!!
Unit I received had been opened and the box had signs of scratches , a dent, and wear. The unit inside was functional and works ok. Sadly, as it was opened before, it was missing the installation screw driver normally provided by Nest in a new box. As I was installing for a friend in a new home, I borrowed a screw driver to do the install. Overall, a 3rd gen is a better and less expensive option than the new 4th Gen when Google stops supporting the 1st and 2nd gen units.
We purchased the item and employed an electrician to install it. The thermostat is faulty and does not work. .
