We use this in our house in our master bathroom/bedroom area. It is a great wireless controller for the Chromecast on the TV, awesome for quick verbal updates, news updates, and playing music when getting ready for the day. This is on our counter in the corner, reverberating sound, so it sounds really good. When it's isolated on its own and not near a wall, it still sounds good, but we like the effect in the corner of the room.
What I love about the Mini and the Hub (I have both) is they are like having a Google search engine on your nightstand (or wherever you put it). Anything you would type in a Google search you can ask this thing - and get an immediate answer. Oh, and it will control all your smart home devices, and make/read calendar appointments, and set alarms or timers (my most used feature), and play music. I honestly forgot what life was like before being able to shout a question out to no one in particular and get an answer.
Given the correct devices to combine WITH the home mini, it has been absolutely worth having. I'm always finding new uses for it even after 2 years of ownership. I particularly enjoy the calculator feature, and being able to solve most disagreements with a simple Google search.
The mini is very handy in playing music, setting up reminders, alarms and bed time schedule. I have observed the mini using my name sometimes and other times it does not. Don't know if its a logic issue or product design issue. Otherwise enjoying it thoroughly at my bedside.
I thought the speaker sounded great for its size and the Google Assistant worked extremely well. I was telling all my friends how great this product is and planning on using it all the time. Unfortunately, it's now put away in my cupboard. I couldn't find anyplace to put it where my cat didn't attack it, and it's a perfect size and shape for a cat to destroy. It won't be useful to me without some way to fend off cats.
Connecting the Mini to the Google Home App is relatively easy. Although, I would like to see more updates to it. A check for updates button near the top of the app would be useful. When listening to a music service using the Mini, it often stops and I have to issue the request again to continue.
So I have the language set to English and Spanish, as some my family members prefer to speak Spanish. My first issue is the response from the nest is somewhat ok but sometimes it has trouble picking us up in our languages and answering. My other issue is when I talk to the nest in English, for some reason it responds to me in Spanish which can be annoying at times because I could be listening to music then out of nowhere, it plays something else. Maybe it's because of my accent but i'm not sure. Other than that I would recommend this product.
I've had the mini for a while and whenever I stream Spotify it randomly cuts out for minutes at a time. I've tried to get help from the Google Nest Mini community but nothing has worked and the last thing they've told me is, "Use a different option to stream." So now I'm using Alexa. No problems at all
It worked fine for a year or so, now it frequently says 'Hold on while I get connected to WiFi' and continues to complain until it's rebooted. After rebooting, it works fine for another day or two. Google support has been useless. It happened after a firmware update, who knows what they changed, no debugging is possible.
I have a google home and two nest minis which have worked well for a few years. Now, every time I say "hey google" they either say there was a glitch, try again in a few minutes, or, something went wrong. I have factory reset and the problem still persists.
