It was very easy to install and very secure. I especially like the round edges since my thermostat is in a hallway and the old one was square with hard points and easy to hit. The color of the trim plate matches the Nest G2 perfectly!

Since the Next Thermostat has a smaller profile than most, having an easy way to hide the opening and defects on the wall from my old mount is essential. So, having a trim kit that matches the style and color of the Nest thermostat is a wonderful idea! There are several colors to choose from and it's very simple to install. Just use the four screws and install it where you need it. A steel plate is also included if necessary. Google also has helpful tutorials online, including one for setting up the thermostat. The thermostat just clicks into place in the middle of the plate, which also makes it easy to remove later when needed. It's important to note this is not for the E or Learning models. Having a trim kit that matches aesthetically really makes the Nest Thermostat stand out. The rounded edges give it a modern look. If you're looking for form and function, I highly recommend getting this trim kit along with your Nest Thermostat. It not only hides any flaws from your previous installation but helps make installation easier.

It will hide the section of wall previously covered by your older model. If you already had a previous nest and your wall looks good then this add on isn't necessary. Also. Super easy to install!

After removing my old thermostat to install the new one, I noticed that the old one left an unsightly hole in the wall. The trim plate covered the hole and added a sleekness to the whole wall. Make sure that you get the trim plate. It looks so much better and others will think you had it professionally installed.
