GoPro - Media Mod for HERO8 - Black

I am very happy with the media mod. It works as described. I needed HDMI connectivity as well as audio line in and option to use the charger instead of battery. The HDMI connection is perfect for me. It connects to TV, computer, and my AMEM streaming console. The microphone is really good. I have a collection of high end mics at my studio and the one included with the media mod is great. The line connection works great too.

Après avoir testé ce module, je n'ai trouvé qu'un seul point négatif, à mon niveau. Il me manque un emplacement supplémentaire d'accrochage (lumière supp ou autre), Mise à part cela, je suis totalement satisfait de cet achat. Le module tient ses promesses. Merci GoPro.

I'm not terribly sure, but I believe the media mode causes the camera to overheat prematurely. I've had the camera shut down on me on many occasions after less than 30 minutes worth of filming. Are used to mod to gain connection to external mics. For this I'll give the camera and the mod three stars.

The only issue I have with GoPro's website to purchase this item, "When a purchase is made, a hold is placed on your card. After 2 days an additional updated purchase amount is pulled from your card in addition to the hold that is already there. Eventually the hold is released, I had mad a several hundred dollar purchase and I was unable to access my held funds." buyer beware when purchasing from here. MediaMod is perfect.

So, I'm late to the party, and got this for my new 8 hero black. No microphone wind cover… and any vehicular mount, or high wind filming leaves a piercing whistling defect on the audio capture. What's even more lame, is that they have given the 9 & 10 both wind covers, yet do not offer the wind cover as a purchasable part, simply can't buy one unless you just buy the 9 or 10 media mod, while the 8 is left without, still. You'd think after releasing the wind cover with the 9, they would start releasing all new 8 media mods with the same wind cover…. But NOOOOOO, that would be to much common sense.

I feel it was very snake like to update the GoPro software to only use the media mod to use an external mic. This media mod makes it extremely cumbersome to swap batteries (which only last an hour) having to break down my whole filming set up. All and all it let's me use a great external mic in RODE but it feels like a waste of money.

As much as I like using my Hero 8 I was disappointed to find no audio recorded when using the media mod. I checked all settings, did factory reset, updated firmware, checked the mod was selected for audio, checked volume settings, and tried different mod mic choices. Nothing. Returned.

When Media Mod is on the Camera the camera freezes up and i keep getting the corrupt file and repairing file message and the camera will only record for a few minutes . i am using 256 ultra SD card the recommended by GOPRO. As well as these problems the camera gets really hot when Charging WASTE OF GOOD MONEY .

It seems like GoPro does. When you have a Camera that is meant to be adventure and the same company sells your product to make your camera better you would expect that it was waterproof. This is the second attachment product that I bought from them that malfunctioned when they got wet. I had the gimbal and now the Media Mod.

I purchased the media mod so I could us an external microphone with my helmet on my motorcycle, while the media mod recognizes that an external mic has been plugged into the media mod and will let me choose the type of microphone in the preferences menu the media mod does not record any audio from the external microphone and instead uses the built in microphones on the media mod. This is very disappointing and I cannot recommend the media mod. The second disappointing thing about the media mod is once you install the media mod the GoPro 8 Hero is no longer water proof. I really don't know what GoPro was thinking when they designed this GoPro 8 Hero but they really missed the mark.
