GoPro Media Mod

It works great but it should have an RF Tage because I lost it.

It only toke me a few seconds to figure out hiw to install it. I csnt believe how handy the media mod has been to use. It made it so I could do a youtube channel and make it successful. After a month my channel shrektravel is growing and its all thanks to GoPro. GoPro saved me from boredom with the pandemic and if a retired solider can use you it you can also!

The Mod is great on capturing better audio with the GoPro. It definitely is good for vlogging and for filming interviews. Additionally one can add the Zeus Mini and provide extra lighting in low light conditions. Since the GoPro Hero 9 is a little thicker these days, any additional add-ons to it makes the GoPro bigger and thicker. The size ideal for add-ons would have been the Hero 5-7. Still, the Mod is an excellent accessory and serves its purpose.

The GoPro Media Mod is a classic case of an accessory that's brilliant in theory but frustrating in practice. When it works, it's an absolute game changer, transforming the GoPro into a versatile vlogging and production camera with excellent external audio and HDMI output. The built-in shotgun mic is a huge improvement over the camera's native audio, and having a 3. 5mm jack for my own mics is a necessity for my workflow. However, the major issue, and it feels like a 50/50 shot every time, is that it often simply does not work as expected. I'm not sure what the root cause is, but there's a recurring issue where the camera doesn't recognize the mod, especially when it's paired with the Volta grip. I've had two different Media Mods, and the problem has persisted with both. It often requires me to remove the camera, manually reset connections, and hope for the best. The potential of the Media Mod is immense, and it's a vital piece of the GoPro ecosystem for creators. But until the connection issues are resolved, it's hard to fully trust it for a professional shoot where reliability is non-negotiable. It's a fantastic concept that needs more consistent execution.

I'm very happy with the media mod. It allows me to easily attach many accessories to the 2 cold shoes . I gave it only 3 stars for 2 reasons. 1 they need to incorporate a better microphone from a different source or lose it completely and lower the price accordingly. Why include one if you still need to buy another shotgun mic to make it worth while. 2. It negates the waterproofing of the camera. It could at least still be weather proof but it's not.

I want to know that if the button is pressed, the recording happens. For me, 'Sound' is key. The sound mod intermittently misses sound. I can no longer trust it to get the shot. That said, the sound quality when it does work is excellent. The ability to connect external mikes is a game changer. Do wish GoPro would put feet on the sound mod though! battery change is a pain in the Ar**!

Habe mir diesen Media Mod bestellt. Lieferzeit m. e. zu lange. Eine sehr sprachumfängliche user guide. Sehr viele Sprachen, jedoch nicht in deutsch! Irgendwie konnte ich Herauslesen das der Media Mod nicht unter Wasser genutzt werden kann. Meine Frage ist nun, wie es bei Regenwetter ausschaut? An den Support kann man ja nicht einmal eine Mail senden. . . . Das geht bei anderen Herstellern erheblich einfacher.

I got one for Hero 10 and 8. After several weeks of using them, I found them not practical function. Every times I needed to change batteries, I had to take the camera out of the mod. Few seconds or minutes of opportunities gone... The Sound wasn't great with this mod. I bought a SmallRig metal case for Hero 10, it made changing batteries so easy without dismounting everything. Please design things easy to use, not just aesthetic but functionally too.

Received and tested. gopro hero12 black doesnt recognize it is connected. 1. Tested the gopro type-c by plugging directly into pc, no media mod: successful connection. 2. Tested the TRS connection mic that I am utilizing with pc: successfully working. 3. Tested gopro with media mod + TRS connection mic: does not work. 4. Tested gopro with media mod into PC via type-c connection: does not recognize (although it will begin to charge it) I have the latest updated firmware. Willing to update review once replacement is sent if maybe this is just a rare defective one.

IF YOU PUT THE LIGHT ON BACKWARDS on accident like i did (crap)... you can't get it off and need to buy a new Media Mod AND light... there are some youtube videos that show how to get it off with a piece of plastic but I haven't been able to make that "hack" work...so I'm buying a second Mod and light and then I'm sure I'll give it a great review because it does look amazing! GoPro please be nice and fix this issue (I saw a lot of blogs/forums talkign about this issue and I'm not the only person who made that mistake within 5 minutes of getting this home).
