Remote works flawlessly as expected; super easy to pair and mount, and the range is great (better if the camera is in line of sight). But the huge bonus for me is the unbeatable battery life. I got this remote almost a month ago, charged it out of the box to 100%, and have been using it for probably 6 hours a week. The battery has only gone down to 61%! The old generation remote used to have to charge after every use but because of the Bluetooth connection, this thing just keeps going! Would highly recommend it as an accessory to your GoPro 8 or newer!
When I am going on a bike ride I just mount it to my top tube, and it connects super easy and you can even turn on and off the camera from it as well as changing camera modes and presets with the click of a button. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is once it glitched out and I had to turn it off and back on which stopped the GoPro mid run. But still a great durable product with an amazing battery life I have had it for about a year and I haven't had to charge it once!
Don't get me wrong its a great product, I just wish it was a little bit bigger for my big hands. Also paring my gopros took sometime but all in all eraser to use then turning on the cameras and then hitting record. Now if I want to record something I just hit the remote and go.
I used this remote with a Hero 11 , Hero 11 Mini and a Max 2. Its been consistent and reliable until my last use. While charging it overheated, the battery expanded and the remote burst open leaking some sort of sealant around the charge port. Does not work underwater.
The remote is really convenient and when it works, it is a must-have. I've have very minor connection issues outside of water, nothing that isn't more than a minor inconvenience. Overall, I love having this thing. That said, the strap is not comfortable or overly useful. It slides around only until you cut off circulation. Also, it won't stay connected underwater. I'm not sure what the issue is, but mine loses connection as soon as I submerge. The screen is also really hard to see when outside, either in sun or not. The battery is incredible and I can do multiple trips without charging. I'd be fine with less battery life for a more easily visible screen.
I currently own a GoPro Smart Remote but it will not work with the new GoPro 9 or 10, so I purchased the new Remote. I have to use the old one to run my Hero 5 but quickly found the effective range of the new Remote is terrible compared to the old version. I normally use them in a hockey rink and the new Remote will not reach from one end to the other like the older Smart Remote does. Very disappointed in the range and also disappointed it will not run GoPro versions older than the 8.
Other viewers are correct, the screen is extremely fragile. After three hours of riding on a dirt bike strapped to a soft pad on my handlebar, the screen filled with black liquid with tiny hairline cracks in it. I said riding a dirtbike not crashing. Literally the vibration of riding around caused it to crack and fail. They would not warranty it even though it was only six months old. I can understand them being skeptical that I hit it with something, but I'm 57 years old and can easily buy another one. I would rather have my honor than a free remote. Something is wrong with the screen. I love GoPro products, but this one has an issue.
I have 2 GP Hero 9's. I use them to make fishing videos. Ever since I got this remote it has never worked properly. I did all of the troubleshooting, downloaded the software update from GP website, everything. deleted and reinstalled, all that IT stuff that the website walks you through. It will connect to both cameras for about 5 minutes then drop one. Then I have to turn everything off and turn everything back on and same thing happens again. I'm not sure if it because I have older GP9 model cameras but it should work. I know the new GP13 has a better Bluetooth connection but I would need to buy two new cameras. I'm very disappointed as it has ruined 2 of my fishing trips already. I really wanted it to work. Now I'm having trouble even getting in contact with the support team. Its been a headache. Please help GoPro!
Sucks-does not work reliably for multicam or even single camera, waste of money. Second time go pro has gotten me with a remote.
The usb port corroded after a few uses. I did rinse it thoroughly after each use. Now remote won't charge at all. For the price not worth it.
