LED Ambient Lighting

Neil B. May 5, 2026

I'm very happy with Govee TV Backlight 3 Lite. I have an older 55” TV and it syncs great! I followed the instructions on the interweb and it worked out really well. Set-up didn't take very long, just some attention to detail and abracadbra! The lights are deep, bright, and vibrant. Great light-show!

TV Excellence

BillF November 4, 2025

The Govee TV lighting scheme is awesome. The lighting blends with any tv picture making it soft lighting adding a wonderful aura framing our tv. For every day tv viewing, we no longer have a secondary standing light on adjacent to the tv, only a small 25 watt lamp behind us. For movies we do not use the 25 watt lamp which immerses us into our program. Yay Team Govee.

Excellent upgrade to my OLED TVs

Kevin December 22, 2025

I bought two of these kits - one for my 65” LG OLED in my living (upstairs) room and one for my 77” LG OLED in my basement to add to the ambiance of TV watching and my man cave. So far both have been excellent and do a great job of expanding the viewing area (Through light) of my TVs to add to the effect of watching movies and putting ambiance on our TVs when we aren’t watching them but are in the room. I only set them at about 50-60% brightness and it puts out more than enough light to add extra visual effects to any movie. Haven’t tried it yet with video games but the color matching works really well with the image sensors.

Govee TV Backlight 3

El Padre October 29, 2025

Installed on tv as directed. Had to play with the saturation and coloring as some of the colors were not matching up as expected. Also, the clips for holding wire on back of tv were flimsy and poorly held the cables. Therefore, had to buy something third party. Overall, pretty good and adds to my tv watching.

Room for Improvement - App Permissions

Ro-z May 19, 2026

The reason I am not rating this higher is because the Govee app prevents me from using the TV Backlight to its fullest capacity. This is my first Govee product, however I have also been using a Philips Hue light system for years so I'm very familiar with how home lighting control systems work. The difference in apps is that Hue has never asked me for my precise location, nor my wifi password. There is no need for me to be giving away my personal information like that. If Govee found a different way to operate its app I'd be able to give a more thorough review. I did give it location permission when I was setting it up at first, and was able to play with designing static colors, patterns, and effects, which was fun and user-friendly. After that I disabled the permissions and disconnected the camera so that maybe someday if things change, I can put it to use with the rest of the package. In the meantime, I just turn the LEDs on & off from the back of the tv and have a lovely rainbow chase run continuously. My only other critique is that the camera mount doesn't really fit the contour of my tv and there's no way to really adjust it. It's just balancing in place with that double-stick tape on the top. It would be cool if there was more of a clamp-type mechanism.

They are nice

Bre June 2, 2026

Pretty simple to put on the tv the only concern is I feel like the blue color is off, I have tried changing a few different settings but it's still the same

Need interference canceling

TheDyldozer September 28, 2025

I thought with all the colors possible and the camera, there would be a better match for dream view, basically the only reason I purchased the device after countless "smart backlight". So far this is the only light kit that does what I've always thought about growing up. I did pair it with 2 of the corner lights which makes it somewhat better, but even with them being away and behind the TV, ( my mount extends 2 ft from the wall) the lights interact and cause interference with eachother if they're not kept under 65% brightness. Probably should of got the ai box but I have a 50 inch tv.. I got the lights after I got the TV, I should of planned my purchases together better. Thinking of trying to mount the lamps from the ceiling. Maybe that's the key!

Wish it was better

Paul Ludwick September 26, 2025

It works well enough. Since my TV is 65-in at the corners, do not get any light. It would be better if this was not for a 55-in TV. If I did not use the apps on my TV I might have gotten a sync box. After calibrating it multiple times, the colors are just not that accurate because the camera sees more than just the edge of the TV. So a color in the middle will sometimes pop on the sides. It also struggles with green and brown colors. Green will sometimes be very bright green as opposed to a forest. Green and brown will show as a dull pink color sometimes.

Too Distracting with Chaotic Color Matching

Major Buster April 27, 2026

Installing this on a wall-mounted TV proved to be quite difficult, so keep that in mind. Even after spending time calibrating, the backlight still fails to consistently match the on-screen content. After just a few weeks of use, the lights started fading to black, occasionally flickering on and then fading out again. I gave it two stars because, while the static lighting might work for some, I specifically wanted dynamic, responsive effects—and this just didn't deliver.

I was hoping for a lot more

Jesse P March 3, 2026

I honestly expected a lot better from my favorite LED electronics brand. I was disappointed in both the installation instructions and the actual process, especially having to put the orange blocks on my TV screen. The camera calibration never seemed to be quite right. Once installed, I was disappointed at the brightness/dynamics and color-matching
