Grade-B Samsung Galaxy Note 5 - AT&T (Black Sapphire)

I'm an HTC fan and decided to go Samsung for the first time. This is easily the best phone I have ever owned. I haven't had much time to play with the camera or video functions yet, but this thing is snappy and fast, even when doing multiple things at a time (using gps while listening to music for example). The stylus is neat, but my favorite feature is running two apps side by side - I love being able to drag text (copy and paste) from one app to the next on the same screen without having to toggle between apps. I would recommend this phone to anyone that wants a fast performing phone, special multitasking abilities, and a nice stylish finish.

I am very glad I made the upgrade to the Note 5!. Coming from the Note 3, I found many practical and good improvements. The S Pen has improved greatly. Writing while the screen is locked is a very practical improvement. The added spring loaded locking of the pen is nice. The action memo is much more convenient with being able to add a few shortcuts of your choice. Second, the exterior design has improved greatly. I like the somewhat curved side edges. Also, the glass backing adds a nice shine to the device. I don't mind not having expandable storage. When I run out of storage, I just move the content to my computer. Lastly, the camera takes very good pictures. They look just like professional photos. Tapping the home key twice is a very convenient feature. Overall I am very impressed with the Note 5. I think Samsung makes a very good product.

With the removal of the Note 7 from the lineup, got a Note 5 and while there were some small differences, the Note 5 still outperforms most phones out today. cant wait to see the new model from Samsung. I own all of their products from washer dryer, to tv, Blue rays, tablets, and phone.

Please do not waste your time buying another phone from a different company.....just try a Samsung Note 5 and your search for the best phone will end. High resolution, super bright AMOLED screen with an octacore processor! I mean, this phone sells itself and it will be the last one you will own, well, until the Note 8 comes out! I was on the fence about getting this, due to no expandable storage and no IR blaster or removable battery, but out of having all of the notes and S2- S6, this one is by far the best yet. Battery is exceptional, and lasts the day with ease and then some. Unlike the S6 I had, this phone has no lag, and hasn't developed any issues after about a month of use. Camera is incredible, and produces a much better picture than my Note 4 did, and a slight better picture than the S6(better color accuracy). I find myself constantly using the S-Pen, something i never did before. If you are on the fence, get it. You won't be disappointed.

I'm a big Samsung fan and have had every Note phone they've had on the market. I was very skeptical about buying the Note 5 simply because of the noremovable battery and no sd card feature. I must say after having this phone it is awesome! Battery life is equivalent to my Note 4. Phone is smooth sailing and no lag. Apps load in a breeze! And the design of the new S-Pen,!!! is great, it actually feels like you are writing with a regular pen. For all the doubters like me at first, I really do recommend it. It's a great phone. Sure it doesn't have some of the features I like, but the subtituted new features really make up for it!! The camera is crisp and clear too!

I'll start with the downsides to the phone, since they are non-trivial. 1. Non-removable back. Important because you cannot add additional storage or swap batteries, I would happily accept more weight or larger dimension. 2. The back is Gorilla Glass now, instead of the faux leather back of the 4. I liked the back on the 4. It felt good in the hand, was cheap to replace if it got dinged, and served as protection. With a good screen cover, it was all the protection the phone needed, in my experience. Now, however, the back is something to be protected. 3. The stylus. Oh, the stylus. The way the stylus is ejected and inserted has been changed. Eject it by pushing on the stylus, and it will pop out far enough to grip it and pull the rest of the way out. The downside is it's possible to insert the stylus the wrong direction. There is no physical feedback...it slides in smoothly. Even if it's inserted just a small amount, it will get stuck, until the phone is turned off. At this point the phone's stylus sensor has been damaged suck that, at minimum, the air commands don't work. In my case, that's the worst of it. The stylus still works. 4. There isn't any plan to be quicker about updating Android versions. The good: 1. I don't have benchmarks but it is fast, and the screen is as beautiful as the first. 2. Air commands seem improved, though I haven't had a chance to use them much. (See above about stylus issue) 3. Addition camera modes such as virtual shot, surround shot, animated photo, and video collage. 3. It is very pretty, FWIW. But, then, the Note 4 is also a handsome design. I don't regret it, but it's not a compelling update. Especially for the price.

I have had my phone for several months now and there is a lot I like about my Note 5. I love the display. Performance is good, but it is a bit puzzling to me. The hardware on the phone is best of class yet at times the phone seems much more sluggish than I would expect especially when compared to lower end phones with more stock version of Android. Battery life is a bit weak as my phone is always running low on power by the end of the day and often needs a recharge during the middle of the day. I have tried to optimize my phone for battery life and this seems to help the situation. The big size has not bothered me as much as I thought it would. I have really liked the S-Pen for taking notes and navigating apps. Beware of the fact that you can slide the s-pen in frontwards or backwards with equal ease and there is nothing to prevent you from inserting the S-Pen backward. If you accidentally insert the pen backwards you will not notice until the S-Pen hits the rubber catch, and at this point it is to late and when you remove the pen it will break the lever of the S-Pen insertion sensor. There are some videos on-line that show you how you can remove the pen using a by sliding in a piece of paper along side the s-pen to prevent the level arm of the sensor from catching on the pen. I wish I had seen one of these before inserting my pen backward one night in the dark. I would image that if you use the S-Pen frequently at some point you will be in a hurry or it will be dark and you will find yourself inserting the S-Pen in backward as I said before there is nothing in the mechanical design of the pen to give you any indication or prevent you from damaging your phone. I am a design consultant and work with designers and manufactures all over the world and I must say that after I saw how the sensor was configured I feel that the design of the S-Pen sensor lever to be poorly executed and cannot imagine how it made it into production. This seems like a case of ignoring a problem in order to rush something into production, and this does make me wonder about other aspects of the phones design and construction. I realize that a one star rating is a bit harsh here, but I thought it would lead to more people reading about the problem so that they will be cautious about how they insert their s-pen as I would imagine that no one would have thought that this simple mistake would break their phone. If it does happen you will at least have purchased the phone knowing that Samsung denies all responsibility for the poor design of the s-pen sensor. If you look at the "itemized" ratings in my review you can get a better feel of my actual views on the phone.

I had the Note 4 since the day it came out, when I accidentally broke it my insurance sent me the Note 5 and I couldn't hate it more. It freezes a lot and had way too many glitches, I have only had it a month and it has been horrible. It's bad enough they took out the removable battery and micro SD but to also make it a terrible phone as well? Major downgrade Samsung, seriously. I can't wait to be able to get rid of it.

I can not believe that Samsung took away the removeable battery and the SD card. Also, they removed the 360 rotating screen. I wish I could go back to my Note 4. I have had all of the Note products as well as owing several tablets, watches, and bluethooth headphones. I am very disappointed with this product and at Samsung. Hey Samsung, you have loyal consumers that stayed with you despite the ups and downs on your products. If we wanted something that looked like or operated like the iPhone we would just go get an iPhone...!
