Granberg Alaskan MK IV 30in. Portable Chainsaw Sawmill

I debated heavily on whether to go with the Granberg, or a cheaper chinese knock-off. My gut told me to go American made, and after using last weekend, I can tell you I'm really glad I did. Very well built, performed very well, and I anticipate it will last for a long time!

HI the customer service was fantastic. When I ordered they were in stock and my order indicated they would ship in a day. Well they went into back order and would take another 3 maybe 4 weeks. I was disappointed as I ordered it 2 day air as I had help lined up. Northern ate the shipping and it only took 2 weeks. The Mill is every thing I knew it would be and more. I added an DIY Oiler and Winch, these really improve the performance. Oiler keep bar much cooler and well lubed and the winch let me put just the right amount of pressure without having to push, the saw bites and moves forward much better that I could push it through also I can do lots more milling w/o worring about getting to tired to operate it! Only thing is I wish I got the 36", this 30" mill I can only do about 20" with a 28" bar based on how the bar needs to have the outside bar holder can not go on the sprocket. I'm going to upgrade. I really like cutting my own lumber or slabs, it's a great feeling of accomplishment.

Bought it to slab out a red oak. Mill is not bulky and it is easily used by one person. Bought it because it is made in the USA. So far it has not shown any signs of weakness. I have attached a 16 lbs saw to it and it is very stable and well designed to handle the torque.

Excellent piece of equipment. I have used it to mill several large slabs for tables since I purchased and the cuts are very consistent. I plan to start milling lumber for my shop next. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking to mill their own wood

This Alaskan Mill is just what I needed to stop wasting awesome logs and start making beautiful lumber. I have looked at these for a while but finally got tired enough of wasting good wood for fires. I got a new saw blade and ripping chain to help mill better and the rest is easy. The folks at granberg are always willing to help. If your tires of seeing nice oak, hickory, walnut, cherry etc, logs go to waste get this mill.

Wife gave this to me (at my request) for Christmas. Assembly was super easy. Attaching the saw and making depth adjustment is simple and the learning curve was short. The only down side I see is I’m going to need a larger saw. Only have a 20” bar on a 30” capable mill. Guess that will be next Christmas.

Been using this mill with a 25" bar to start and wanted to stretch it out to it's full potential. Since it is a 30" mill and the product information states max bar length of 30" that is what I bought to get to fully extended width on the mill. With a 30" bar you will only be able to get extended to about 23". With a 36" bar you could get the max extension and to nearly 30". Just want to share this with potential buyers so you get the correct bar to get the full width potential of your mill. The mill works great if you have a large enough chainsaw to cut with. I'd recommend at least a 70cc saw or larger. Good luck and thanks for reading my review.

the sawmill jig was easy to assemble, the longest part of the process was setting up log bucks to work off of and creating an aluminum ladder jig. I have used it several times since opening the box. I have many logs to process and am trying to come up with projects to use my lumber on

The sawmill works as expected and is pretty easy to use. It's a bit tricky at first setting the saw height, you could use three hands or some spacer blocks would help but I'll make those eventually. If you want to cut larger logs then better get a powerful saw.

Unarguably the Granberg sawmill is a leader in its class, and helps you to turn what would otherwise be firewood into usable lumber. This mill offers easy installation, and the ability of using your scrench to do all adjustments in the field after initial install, a huge plus. I do wish the guide rails were wider apart, with the connecting support rails being 100% flush. This would make entering and exiting the wood much easier. Right now you are almost guaranteed to waste the first/last few inches of your cut.
