I bought this because I've got over a hundred black walnut trees on my property and thus far have not lost any of significant size, but I would probably be in trouble if I told folks I just cut it up for firewood. I've got some cherry that I've got into 6 foot logs that I can't wait to cut into boards. I did make some large blocks out of bass wood for a guy that's into carving. He was real happy with the results. At any rate I've got some wood that may have some value other than the fireplace! Thus far the mill is doing exactly what I had hoped/expected!

We purchased this tool not really expecting alot but how fun. This tool cuts wood into planks like you would buy from a lumber yard. It does take some time but the smell of fresh cut wood and the revealing grain is time well spent. Buy it if you are not in a hurry.

I purchased the saw mill to see what I could do. I built a5' x 30 foot long bridge over a creek at our lodge in northern Michigan. I slabbed all the deck boards from cedar on our property. I did need to purchase a Rip blade for my saw. after that it was like cutting butter. It is awesome tool! I had a lot of fun!

I thoroughly enjoy this tool. Almost everything about it is perfect, and my only constructive criticism is that it claims you don't need to drill your saw bar and that it just clamps on. Well, that's not the case. The two oval head bolts that clamp to the saw bar let the bar wiggle all around when at the torque that Granville recommends. Even when you crank them down extra hard, far past the torque Granville recommends, the bar still wiggled all around. After drilling the bar at those bolt points, it works perfectly.

I got this mill to mill beetle kill pine. It works great and beats trying to free hand. I got a comercial grade electric chain saw as I did mill inside my shop this winter and the gas ones just won't work in an enclosed area. I peeled all the bark off the logs as with all the dirt and sand inside the bark it dulls the chain fast. I used a straight 2X10 as a guide and really works well to slide on and keep things true. Don't forget to change the angle of your chain teeth to around 10 degrees and it will cut smoother.

I bought this saw mill a couple of weeks ago. It was in my opinion very easy to put together took me about 20 minutes. My only complaint is that the guard shown is clear but it came with an opak one a clear one would have been better. It worked as advertised. I made my own set of rails for the first cut and worked well. The second cut was easier but it took a lot of work and with the saw's position I was sucking fumes from the exhaust. After using this I decide to buy a bigger saw mill but will still use this for smaller jobs over all it did perform as expected

Product was exactly as described and worked as shown in the video. I was pleased with performance. Really need a sharp chain to keep from taking too long. I used it to saw cedar. I wasn't aware that a ripping chain was available until I read the ad that came with the sawmill. I'll probably order one when I get my new chainsaw! The first cut is key - I made a frame from 2 X 4's in order to have a straight edge to cut from

Bought this sawmill and made my first cut without a guide on a straight-ish log. Worked well but works best with skip tooth chain. My last cut took maybe 5 min tops on a walnut log 10 ft long and 20+ inches at the widest log width. more chain teeth means a slower cut at least twice that time...an works the saw more. I was using a Husq 460 rancher with 20” bar. The only thing that sort of surprised me is that the way it attaches to saw blade puts some serious dents in the saw blade in order to hold the sawmill with the required force. Another note is that the pic on the box shows a clear plexi guard and the one I have is translucent. Thought it was a protective cover over the plexi but no...had me a little confused. No big deal as there is no need for clear plexiglass guard. Other than that, the build is good....I guess wewill see how long it holds up

I am amazed at how well this tool works. I expected to have to work a lot harder. I am glad that I didn't spend the big money on the sawmill! I have a lot less to store and this thing is just as good if not better since I can cut logs in place instead of wrestling them on to a deck!
