I have been using this product for years. It works well on almost any surface and is good for interior and exterior, so I only have to keep one primer on hand for any project that pops up. I have never found anything that works better, so I can always use it with confidence and convenience.
Used this to cover navy alkyd paint. It was the first step in converting a navy alkyd wall to an off white latex paint. Much was asked of this primer, but a bit of trial and error helped to achieve perfection. Strongly recommend using this with a light hand, waiting a full day between coats and under recommended temperature. If the primer dimples, use less paint and don't over roll. Fix dimpling by allowing primer to fully dry, then sand affected areas and prime it again.
Really impressive coverage and it is sticking really well to a fiberglass garage door. I used a cheap airless sprayer and had to thin this a little to make it work with the sprayer. The finish was great and ready for the top coat. The best part was I was using a light gray finish and it was easy to see how well I was covering it when I sprayed the finish on. I will be using this again for more work I have to do soon. and The clean up was really easy.
Great product! But even though it's cheaper online you really don't save much money online vs purchasing in store after the shipping fee. But it worked great for my project
If you are painting with a color even a bit darker than white, this is my go-to primer. I painted professionally for 20 years, and have never had an issue with Zinsser Bulls Eye 123 of any kind. If you pay attention to the substrates it's rated for, it won't let you down. I've even used it under Rustoleum oil-based enamel as an automotive prime, after scuffing the existing paint with 120 grit sandpaper. No rust, great adhesion and CHEAP. FYI, the color is a light gray. If you are using a dark paint (e.g. navy blue, brown, black or such), I would recommend you have it tinted so the paint covers better.
I used this to prime previously painted wood it filled in gaps and hid everything with excellent coverage and dried smooth. It dis not dry as fast as I has hoped, 7 hours later it is still a little sticky, thank goodness a second coat wasn't needed.
This was OK, but I ordered 5 gal of exterior paint. you said you'd deliver on Oct 22, its Nov 13th, I* still have not received it. And, winter is coming, it's hard tp paint in freezing temperatures.
Crazy! In the store, the paint was $5 more than if I ordered it online to pickup in the same store. To save money, I ordered it online. Came back to the same store 1.5 hours later and picked it up. Stupid in my opinion. Why not let me pay the online price to start with. Your employee wouldn't have had to go get it off the shelf, tag it, and bag it. I could have done that myself and left.
I normally rate a product I haven't used yet as a 3, but since I used the same product in a spray can, I do have some experience. The spray can product from Zinsser was the best I ever used for a primer. However, because of the way it was delivered , the over-spray required more top coating %26 the extreme white color made some additional spot top-coating necessary. Those two issues should be completely resolved with this brush-on, gray product. I used it over a concrete entry sidewalk.
Bait and switch. I ordered a gallon and received 32 ounces. Walmart said in stock and had to wait for China to ship. Not at all happy with experience.
