The flour is very nicely ground. It has a soft and light texture. I bake 2 loaves of Whole Wheat bread every week . The flour behaved very well and produced a loaf that had a lovely fine crumb and was very soft. It performed beautifully. It produced a bread that toasts nicely and makes a great breakfast. I love that it is organic as flour is so much better when there is no herbicide or pesticide used the the growing. A great flour,
The fact that this is pure organic unbleached, vegan, non GMO, kosher, and made in the USA is fantastic! The best quality of wheat flour and completely devoid of contaminants made some of the best whole wheat pancakes I've ever eaten. They were filled with fiber and filled my husband and I up! They were delicious and the texture was more hearty than any other whole wheat I've ever used. This is premium flour! I'm going to do sandwhich bread next !
Based on my satisfaction with other products from Great River Organic Milling, I tried Whole Wheat Unbleached Flour. I read multiple recipes indicating a longer rise time and careful monitoring of hydration levels. I found other recipes with no-knead short rise times. Being an impatient person, I chose the version with the shortest time. Bad decision on my part! The flat bread loaf had a good flavor overall but was dry and too chewy. My next loaf using the same flour will be made following an appropriate recipe. I do highly recommend!
Sometimes, I like to mix whole grain into an apple cake for a hearty nuttiness. This flour worked very well. It has a fine taste and texture, and, with wheat being so heavily contaminated with pesticides, it's good to know this is organic!
Nice 2lb bag of Organic whole wheat flour. I see muffins in my future. The flour seems to be milled to a good grind.
