this is my go-to milk product. it usually outlasts the best by date by a week. when I was young we wouldn't touch 1% for 2% because it was so watery. but now in my old age this 1% is what I prefer. has a great flavor and in my opinion not watery at all.
Great Value 1% Low-Fat Milk is always in our fridge and for good reason. It's smooth, fresh, and not too heavy—perfect for cereal, coffee, or just a quick glass between kid chaos. Tastes just as good as the pricier brands, but way easier on the budget. Honestly a no-brainer staple in our house.
C'mon, people… milk in grocery retail has improved over the years. 1% milk is just that - a persnickety half-hearted attempt to bridge the gap between skim milk to the rest of the milk family (haha..). It is there for the people who like it. We buy it for them.
as I was sitting there having a glass of milk, I could only think of the cow that it came from and how it must've been in a golden pasture, somewhere with nothing but rainbows and love because the quality of milk that came from this jug was beyond anything anyone could ever imagine if I have any recommendation. It would be to grab yourself a gallon find a quiet place and experience the rainbow..
So I always get this milk. The only reason it has three stars is because twice in the past I have gotten milk and it was close to the expiration date by a 5 days and no one bothered to check that and it went bad when milk should usually last you about two weeks. Yes I did not check and maybe that was my bad but I EXPECT not to have to check. I feel that's something the store should do. Only reason why is cause it is delivery. If I went into the store and got it myself, I would've checked the date. However, sometimes I need to order delivery, which is why I have Walmart plus as I am disabled. Other than that yes the product is what it's supposed to be 1% milk. But I am posting this in case anyone else is ordering delivery. Sometimes they wanna give you the option to return the item to the store which kind of aggravates me because then what is the point of me ordering delivery? If they want a picture of something I could provide that no problem because I'm not about to waste gas money on top of the fact that I paid for delivery on top of the fact that I'm disabled so that would be extremely inconvenient. The Walmart plus is usually very good about compensating mistakes or refunds and sometimes even giving you a little extra for your inconvenience. I will give them that.
I always check expiration dates on food products, especially milk. The expiration date on this milk was to expire within seven days which was sufficient enough time before it should go bad. WRONG! The first day the milk was fine. The second day it was completely sour and foul smelling. It took one day after opening it, for the milk to spoil, five days before the expiration date.
I always buy this Great Value milk, but my last gallon I purchased had a horrible taste and smell. It tasted and smelled like plastic. Will not be purchasing any Great Value milk or even dairy products until this is taken care of. Not sure what the problem is, but I’m not risking getting sick from drinking this. I have been having trouble finding gallon size milk at my Walmart, so maybe there is an issue at their facility that needs taken care of. Expiration date is APR 21, so it is well before the expiration date. Starting to see other similar reviews like this so I’d steer clear of this product for a while!
I just wanted to let everyone know that if you don't drink milk real fast this isn't the milk for you. This is the 2nd gallon I bought in a row that spoils 4 days SHY of the best by date so if if can't even last a week it is no good to me. I can't drink a whole gallon of milk in a day or 2 and it seems that it must be old already before it is even sold. Bad deal I know it isn't my fridge or storage as this doesn't happen with milk bought at soopers or safeway.
I had to stop buying this and the Great Value skim milk because about half of the gallons I bought were sour for months. Even not expired, half the time the milk had a spoiled taste and smell that made it undrinkable. I'm not paying for a 50% chance of usable milk.
I usually buy this product, I have not had an issue with it until now. Yesterday I noticed a funny taste, like some sourness but disregarded it due to some food I had eaten with it thinking it affected the flavor. Today I made chocolate milk, again noticed the sourness. When looking at it I could see the milk was curdled. The date on the milk jug was “use by June 8,” purchased 5/26/26. The milk should not have been spoiled. What is the issue then? Does Walmart have problems with their refrigeration or since this was a curb pick up was it left out too long waiting for the customer? Not my issue, other products in my refrigerator are fine.
