Super excited for the quality of these HOT DOGS! I love anything PURE and 100% beef. The quality is really good, They cooked AMAZING! And taste very good, Especially for the price. Go perfect with Ketchup, Mustard, Onions, Perfect for cookouts or what ever kind of meal you want them for. Very Pleased.
So among other food snobbish related quirks, I'm a hot dog snob. When purchasing from Walmart I always go for Nathans with or without the injection of cheese. That said. I tried a few ways to cook them. First, pan fried and went to town. Keeping in mind my hot dog snobbery, these are ok. They ARE meaty, not just squishy filler meats like other brands. They did the satisfying pop when cooking, but the taste was missing something, and I have no idea what, but it didn't have that kick. Now, I also tried them pan-fried, then cut up, tossed into my favorite baked beans, and they were great in there. Also tried nuked for 60seconds, put on a roll with saurkraut and mustard, fairly decent, So bottom line, would I buy again, yes I would. Decent meat, nice quality, excellent price and they work great with toppings or whatever. But for a bit of extra cash I'd go for the name brand mentioned Now WALMART..get the skin on versions of hot dogs so I don't have to have them shipped from NJ. Wow I sound like a weird obsessive hot dog worshipper.
Looks, tastes, smells good. The texture doesn't soften much even after being boiled for 5min. Definitely need teeth to enjoy them. Not recommended for children under five or older Seniors for fear of choking hazard. Otherwise is a good buy.
It was a surprisingly OK NEW Smoked flavor, I had never tried before. The price is HIGH though. It seems like you would be Lower Cost. I believe it is a better Grilling Frank- Hot Dog, than being boiled. Just my personal opinion though, it does not fully cook when being boiled. As others do.
These hot dogs may be "all beef" but the quality is bad, the taste and texture are bad, these are not the same Great Value beef hot dogs Walmart used to have before a long gap, but the new dogs are horrible, they don't even grill well. I won't buy them again until you find quality beef dogs for the Great Value label.
The very 1st bite I was disgusted with the taste. I took a 2nd bite and couldn't do anymore, I threw the whole pack in the trash... The taste is hard to explain...it just tastes CHEAP,It taste worse than the cheap chicken and pork hot dogs. It leaves a HORRIBLE after taste in your mouth for 30 minutes. . 10 minutes after eating my half of hot dog (2 bites) I kept spitting up little tiny bits from the hot dog, kind of like the size of sand. This grossed me out even more. DO NOT BUY THIS DISGUSTING PRODUCT...Its the lowest quality hot dog I have ever tasted. Im not even sure if its made for human. consumption!
I have eaten products that I didn't like before, just so they wouldn't go to waste. I absolutely hate to waste food and could not eat these hot dogs, I even tried slicing one very thinly on pizza, but couldn't deal with the fake smoke flavor. First Walmart review ever too, that's how bad these dogs taste.
great value stuff is usually prety good. these hot dogs are the exception. they were salty void of taste and just plain not worth buying. ballpark, nathans, hebrew national are 100% better. DON'T BUY!
The previous Great Value Hot Dog was an excellent value, but the new version is a disappointment. The texture was rubbery and it lacked flavor. I hope the quality can be improved to match the original.
What did I just buy? Beef franks that I had to throw away because they were so awful. Probably the worst beef frank that I ever encountered. Rubbery with a horrible taste and texture. I will never buy them again.
