this is a great beef and broccoli dish. I usually set everything out and let it thaw out just a bit, while I fry up the meat. the meat has a good crispy texture to it which is how I like it and the broccoli is fresh tasting and the sauce is great with plenty of sauce. put this over rice it's an excellent meal
Delicious. Just as good as name brand. I was given this item as a substitution . Im glad I said yes. You will need to add a 12 oz bag of addtl brocolli and some addtl meat. I added addtl andouille cajun sausage sliced up(The whole Sausage), brocolli and pinch of blk pepper. The sauce is well seasoned and flavorful. Restaurant quality. 5 stars. The sauce is very flavorful. Serve over some white rice. Adding the addtl meat and broccoli will give you enough food for a family of 4. We will definitely be purchasing again. Highly recommend.
this is one of the repeat items always in my card! This makes such a delicious family sized dinner. I like to add extra broccoli and there's enough sauce in the package to cover the whole food and make it still delicious! I just love broccoli so I add more. you can serve us over pasta or rice whatever you prefer.
I bought 3 different frozen beef %26 broccoli meals, each from a different producer. The Great Values was the BEST. Had actual broccoli florets, no stems %26 there were as much broccoli as chunks of beef. Flavor was fantastic!! The other 2 had mostly stems and very little broccoli to start with.
The beef is minute steak type beef with a little gristle. It's a bit chewy. These are not the cuts you see in a Chinese food restaurant at all as they are also deep fried. Usually, beef and broccoli are fresh cuts of beef and fresh broccoli florets in a soy-based sauce. The broccoli is excellent and is not mush. When combined you get a very comparable flavor to what you might find at a lower end Chinese food restaurant. The prep is fast and easy as well is the cleanup. It's all in one skillet. The sodium content is high but then this is Chinese food, not health food but that makes me think, it could be. I am friends with an owner of several Chinese food restaurants, and I was taught to make many of these dishes, which are not what they eat in mainland China, by my friend. That said it is easy to make a low fat, low sodium version of this at home but it would take you about 12x longer to do it than this very easy and convenient dish. Add some pork egg rolls, fried and white rice and you have a full-on Chinese food lunch or dinner for 2 people. 3 for lunch. I have purchased this more than a few times now. It's not the same as having an actual Chinese restaurant in town or anywhere near where I live but it scratches the itch I get for Chinese food from time to time.
The flavor of the sauce is pretty good, and the broccoli is fine. The problem is the "beef." I don't know what it is, but the taste and texture is weird, and there is an odd coating on each piece. Tastes more like a lab engineered product than actual beef. Ib would not buy this again.
Very small portions for so-called family size which was skimpy on meat for just 2 elderly adults. Meat was coated in some kind of totally un-needed breading that was soggy and unappetizing. Broccoli was good quality and cooked just right from instructions on the package.
This meal says it has almost 5 servings. I had to add another bag of broccoli just to have enough for 3 people. The meat has a gritty outer surface, and almost tastes freezer burnt. There were a LOT of hard stalks of broccoli that was like eating wood. And unless you like garlic, I wouldn't recommend this. It overpowered everything.
I would recommend this kit only for maybe two people wanting to have lunch, but not for 5 servings as the package suggests. I have a family of 4 two members who are small children, and this was nowhere what we needed for 1 family dinner thats including the rice I made separately. I ended up adding beef and 1 bag of frozen broccoli to have enough food for all of us, which ultimately defeated the purpose. Inside of this package are 3 individual bags. 1 bag of broccoli, 1 bag of beef pieces, and 1 sauce package. The heaviest item is the sauce. Overall, the taste was good, and the kids enjoyed it, but the value was not so good.
Where was the beef?? The crap that looked like beef - wasn't! it had no texture, did not taste or chew like beef, best description of the so called beef is a soft, mushy, tasteless mess! We threw it out. Did not trust it, will not buy again. That's a shame as just about all the other frozen meals were really good.
