So with me trying to find healthy alternatives, THIS was such a great buy! It tastes sooo good! I have used it in wraps, as a breakfast meat with protein pancakes, and even in an egg white spinach sandwich with protein bread. I was very skeptical at first especially with so many nasty and gummy alternatives out there. All I do is throw it in a pan for a few minutes on both sides and done. Since it's technically already cooked meat, you don't have to cook it for long. Once I see the toasty look on both sides I take it right off. Deliciously paired with Mrs. Dash garlic herb seasoning if you want a little flavor.
Taste is fine. It does not taste exactly like pork or turkey or other sausages, but it is a good sausage taste. Firm texture. Good snap. Good bite. Good plain or with sauces. I have eaten it plain and I have put it in sandwiches - great both ways. A bit less sodium than other similar sausages. But still slightly too much. Though I expected that. I will buy again.
I like the smoky flavor and the fact that I found no bone fragments. After trying this I personally prefer the GV kielbasa sausage but both are good. I dip it in spicy mustard or cut it up into a box dinner instead of unhealthy and unsustainable ground beef. A minor issue is the plastic wrapper which will not open at the corner tab, it must be cut off. This really does not need any more than heating. It is not the kind of sausage that will be much better with grilling. Price is good too.
This sausage is more on par with hot dogs, but literally half the fat ( or even less). Regular sausage is greasy and bad for you. This sausage is mellow and easy to incorporate into various recipes. Obviously this is isn't a straight replacement for traditional sausage, but the taste and texture are top notch. I suggest using this in place of hot dogs.
I love this great value sausage and that it comes in. this flavor is the chicken but I also like to get the beef one to go with the spaghetti dish. these are nice cheap ways to add protein to a meal rather than chicken or ground beef which often cost more. The flavor is really good and this I love to add it to a variety of one pot dishes or pastas.
Great value chicken smoked sausage is a GREAT alternative for those who do not or cannot eat red meat. It is always fresh and delicious. It is comparable to more expensive brands. This is a winner hands down!!! I use this to serve as is and in all my recipes that calls for smoked sausage and/or kielbasa and my family cannot even tell that I switched to this.
usually I'm 100% happy with this item. this trip my shopper grabbed two smaller pre packaged slices and then weighed them together in one pack. I might be wrong but usually. when I select roast beef by the pound, they cut it fresh . these were cut two days ago and it just wasn't the same as when I've gotten the ones. sliced same day. not bad, just not like cut the same day.
Whomever shopped for me have picked one with a broken seal. The way walmart refund is set up I can't even get a refund unless I am willing to take it back to the store. So I have to toss it because it is not edible because with a broken seal it is damaged goods.
Personally, I found this very un appetizing. The outer casing was very tough, but the inside, the actual sausage part, was a very whipped fluffy texture. It was like a fluffy bologna, texture, inside a rubber hose. The flavor of the chicken was completely overpowered by way too much sage and rosemary in the sausage I had. Other people have liked it, however, I did not. If you don't like Rosemary and Sage, buy something else. For the price the amount you get is good. I just didn't care for it.
I buy a lot of Beef and Turkey Smoked Sausage, even Walmart Brand. However, I have bought, I think, 6 of these. I have 2 left, which I guess I will throw out. I kept trying them because I thought the first 2 may have been a fluke, then I used the 4th one because I thought it was turkey, and I had to throw out the whole big pot of soup. These are BAD, very bad. I literally threw up every time I ate it. They smell and look fine, but I am guessing it is an ingredient in them. They also taste bad. It is not a bad I can describe, like rotted meat or some chemical taste - it is just bad to the point where you can't eat it. Literally 1-2 slices made me throw up each time. I know it is not a fluke now. Lately, I cannot bring things back because I cannot get out of the house.
