I ordered this cream cheese a few days ago so I could try a new to me recipe. Mashed potatoes with cream cheese and whipping cream. And some butter. Wow. What an amazing mashed potatoes it made. Glad I tried it. I used 2 potatoes 1/4 c cream cheese 1/8 cup ish whipping cream 1/4 c butter and blended. Add liquid if needed for a desired consistency.
The Great Value brand is just what it says it is, A Great Value for your money. Yes, the taste is very slightly different and so is the texture. If you're using it as an ingredient, you'll never notice and if it's being used on veggies or in a dip, simply whip it a little bit. The price difference is well worth the little bit of extra trouble.
Cream cheese is Not for bagels anymore. ALL food products are Great Value. Spread the cream cheese on graham crackers, add raisins, chopped walnuts and sprinkle a little bit of cinnamon. A Great afternoon snack ESPECIALLY for women with a cup of tea. 2 is enough, it helps with the hunger pains. BUT! The visual of putting it together makes you feel good inside and they call that " tapping in to the inner Self". Read a book, and maybe start a journal? The girls are coming over and make it for them. it's a good treat for anyone BUT! I have Great Value chopped walnuts in it. Many people can't eat nuts. I used the walnuts for it's a softer bite, no worries with dentures ect. My med daughter (43) Still scoops with a spoon and walks away while she eats it. Use your imagination and have Fun 😀
I thought I'd try this brand for the 1st time and I was pleasantly surprised with the taste. It's just about the same as the famous P brand I've been using for 40 yrs. I'll be saving lots now for the upcoming holidays. My favorite ways to use is in my chicken green sauce enchiladas, dips, snacks, strawberry pretzel jello desert and cheesecake.
highly convenient product - perfect size X weight x price ratio, the flavour is absolutely par non is is quite dense, i use it as my calcium source now as milk has begun thinning their product AND increasing their prices, the taste is equivalanet to the texture, highly dense and rich cheese with light entensity, tends to be great chilled and eaten asa block by itself or rolled tighlty with promosquitto(italian dried meats) all in all great product, i usually purchase 6-8 every month that i can afford it
Just as good or better than the more expensive brand. I use it for a lot of things. Puff pastry, pies, cobblers and various other items. I never went back to the more expensive once I tried this. It is very creamy, easy to cut into pieces and has a great flavor.
This generic version of cream cheese is great for using in recipes for dressings, casseroles or baked goods. It has a light taste and is a reasonable price. I think it is as good as the name brand, but a much better price. However, I have noticed that the kids don't like it as much spread on a bagel or toast as they do the name brand. Overall, I think this is great and definitely a good value.
This brand is great for spreading on a bagel, but I don't bake with it. This is why I can't give it 5 stars. When mixing for baking, it does not get near as smooth as Philadelphia brand cream cheese. But for anything else, just fine. Well worth the price.
This cream cheese is pretty much identical to the main name brand. I know there are superior cream cheese products out there but most stores don't carry them (shoppers are more likely to find the superior stuff in NE delis and maybe in Wisconsin locales). This bargain buy works fine in my recipes. Most of the time I don't use it alone as a spread except on toasted raisin bread or cinnamon raisin English muffins. It's pretgy good on those!
I buy this often and have to say it recently feels like it's the victim of “shrinkflation” the package is not actually full where a large pocket of air in the corner or top of block lessens the amount of actual product. It's never a fully square block of cream cheese
