Great tasting cake mix. Super light and fluffy. Makes amazing cakes and cupcakes. Each box makes a two 9inch layers or one 13x9 in or one 10-in funnel cake or 24 cupcakes. I always keep these on hand and I usually don't purchase any other brand. The price is such a steal compared to name brand. It's super easy to mix and minimal additional ingredients needed. Cakes and cupcakes freeze well after baking.
Requires egg whites, water, and vegetable oil. I use sparkling water, a hive beaten eggs, and coconut oil to get a perfect cupcake. I poured them in paper party molds. You can eat them with a fork no oiled pans. The cupcake icing in that aerated container helps make effortless pretty cupcakes.
I've made plenty of cakes in my time, especially white cakes, by scratch. I do keep box cakes on hand for when I'm short on time or ingrediants but never Great Value brand. This was a first time purchase based on all the great reviews; plus the cake was for a childs' birthday - seemed like a good opportunity to test it out. When I use a box mix I elevate ingrediants like many do but this time the only thing I did different was replace the oil with twice the amount of soft butter. Hands down, it was the best white cake I've ever had! It had the flavor and texture of an angel food cake, only better. I hope you give it a try.
Don't bother buying a "name brand"- this cake mix is better. Very light, great flavor. Unbeatable price. I never thought I'd like a white cake, but here we are. I'd definitely buy it again. In fact, writing this review make me sorry I don't have in the house.
Great price for a delicious cake mix with instructions easy enough for my 8 year old to follow. The cake came out amazing not only in taste but looks as well. I used it under the fondant and white frosting. Guests couldn't believe the cake was home made.
I buy the great value brand of almost everything.I buy cause it tastes. The same as name brands cake was delicious, moist. And you would think it was the name brand and how good it was.
I use this mix as a base for most of my cakes. For carrot cakes, I add in carrots, raisins, walnuts for banana cakes, I add bananas for lemon pound cake. I add in lemon pudding mix. This cake mix is very versatile.
Ive been disappointed with box cakes for a while now, and only really use them for that one dessert that calls for canned fruit and pineapple, with the cake mix on top and then melted butter poured over it? However, I saw this Canadian lady on Facebook say to use milk instead of water, to add 1/2 cup of sour cream or mayonnaise, and use melted butter instead of oil. So I tried it and my god what a difference. The cake actually rose. Ive been plagued with 1/2" high cake corners for decades, it's defied explanation. NO MORE! It is so moist, man. Absolutely delicious. So, I don't really like the cookies made from this mix, but after all the adjustments, it's a great mix.
Delivery with snap device missing from 2 boxes- defective boxes sandwiched between 2 good ones so not obvious that there were defects in the in between storage boxes. SHAME on you! Returning asap!
I ordered the Walmart Angel Food Cake Mix not this! I was for a specific dessert! The Angel Food mix is more by the way. If I had known this I would have picked one up at Kroger. I stopped there on my way home!
