I love ricotta cheese and this has a good bit in it. It has plenty of sauce and I have found that if you cook it for about 1 or 1 1/2 minutes longer it's just right. Check before you go up. Your microwave may cook different from mine. I definitely recommend it.
I had low expectations, but this was really good. I made it in a toaster oven and after it was done and the film removed, I sprinkled on some more shredded cheese as there was almost none on top. Then I stuck it back in and broiled it for a few minutes, until the cheese was melted and there were some crispy edges. It was not bad at all, especially for the price.
this item is new at my walmart. the only cheese lasagna that was available was the party size by stouffers and that was way to big for me. to my surprise this has a lot of ricotta in-between each lasagna noodle. the tomato sauce is also very tasty. don't hesitate to buy.
I refuse to make my own homemade lasagna and I loveeeee cooking I cook too much… but nope I just can't this Walmart lasagna I finished one just now yum but yes just add some 3 cheese Parmesan on it with fresh basil when is have 10 min left to bake and that's its its the BEST LASAGNA EVER! BETTER THEN ANY IV HAD EVER! BUY IT!
Only draw back is I didn't notice if this brand offered a lasagna product that only contains "onion powder" for the substitution of onions. My husband is highly allergic to the pungent ammonia smell that onions give off so we have to be very cautious as to what we buy and eat whenever he wants to try eat something new to him or whatever we eat in another room. Majority of the time when he isn't going in and out of the hospital due to his declining health issues here lately, our son and I would eat foods without onions. If this brand does offer lasagna with only onion powder please let me know.
Don't expect this to knock your socks off, it is a store brand frozen lasagna after all. However, this is one of the better frozen lasagnas I've tried. The amount of cheese is good and makes a change from spicy sausage in lasagna. So many frozen lasagnas are spicy, which is not at all how they're supposed to be. I keep a few of these in my freezer for nights I'm in a rush or don't feel like cooking. It isn't to everyone's taste but if you're tired of spicy lasagna, give this a try.
Plusses: A quick %26 easy entree. Great w a side salad or cooked non-starchy veggie (like green beans, broccoli, carrots, or even spinach) and a fruit for dessert - a really affordable %26 nutritious complete meal. Also, love the cardboard container. Minus: Hate the film covering because, when it's removed after microwaving, too much of the mozzarella topping sticks to it %26 cannot be scraped off.
Taste was OK as far as spices/cheese. Again with the thick noodles though, I'm just not a fan. And yes, I followed package directions to the letter. Four stars for preparation because of course, in the microwave fast and easy otherwise no I wouldn't recommend it.
After trying the meat version of this, thought I'd try the cheese. Big mistake. It's pretty awful. Texture is good and plenty of ricotta, but the sauce has a really funky taste. Not tomato-y at all. My husband thought it was bad too. Plus it's very thin overall so not alot to eat. The meat variety was better--not perfect--again issues with the sauce--but much better than this. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
I wanted to love this. I really did. But what I got was a crime against Italian cuisine. Two lonely noodles with a smear of ricotta and a whisper of mozzarella over a pool of overly tomato-ey sauce. I waited 50 whole minutes for this to bake in the oven, hoping for a cozy, cheesy, comforting moment—and instead got... sadness in a tray. I actually ordered two and now I wish I had stacked them like lasagna LEGO bricks just to get actual layers. The instructions didn't even say to remove the plastic for melting the cheese, which was still clinging on to its solid state when time was up. I had to MacGyver it into looking edible. It was edible. But only just. The side Caesar salad I paired it with was the real MVP. 🥗 Please, Walmart. Do better. For the noodles. For the cheese. For all of us.
