I disliked getting old, but rather be old then dead. lol. My close medical friends have advised me about aging and memory of the elderly. Our society does not educate people much about aging, after all, who wants to hear about getting old. Our brain cells need to be fed green food for oxygen to the brain. The greener the food, the more oxygen it has for brain. Also eat carrots for feeding the memory brain cells. People eat certain things for building up muscles and work outs, our brain needs fed certain things also. Broccoli Florets are very green food, great human food. I have not always thought of it as great tasting, but have found that some added things like salad dressing, steamed carrots, or certain cheese, can make that broccoli very delicous. The frozen broccoli sold in this steam bag, has always been good. Eating steamable food, is lots better for a person than any canned thing. Has medically been found that preservatives in cans is not good for brain function. Frozen, Steamed food is lots healthier. If you want to enjoy your older age, take care of yourself best with frozen food in steamable bag. You will find that Great value has best steamable bag prices. Can be old and still have fun in life. I am in my seventies and still ride a bike. What food you eat, makes a difference. Am not crazy, I do have a electrical motor on my bikes. Cause if I do want to stop pedaling, I can just use the silent motor to ride on and enjoy places and the world. Bottom line, the frozen Broccoli florets is very good healthy food for you.
I'm one of those people who actually enjoys cruciferous vegetables. It's a tie between Brussels sprouts and broccoli but actually broccoli is the clear winner. Now I have tried all of the brand names of broccoli "florets." But Walmart brand is the only brand that I have found that is actually a "floret." I don't buy the other brands even though its a shame because they have good combinations but nothing makes food inedible to me than those little broccoli stalks! They never get soft certainly not by microwave steaming it and its almost like every bite you have to pull out the stalks as they splinter in my mouth. I buy this brand and am always greeted with pillowy soft broccoli florets.
I find most GV products to be equal to name brand products. These frozen broccoli florets are definitely in that category. You may find a couple of stems in the whole bag. But I have purchased name brand florets and found numerous stems in them. The GV are excellent for your needs. They’re great in coconut chicken, rice casserole or anything you’d like to use them in.
Frozen is never better than fresh but since time is not my friend when it comes to prep and cooking, this is a quick fix. Defrosted first, then added my own seasonings. Cooks well in the bag - but use a mitt to remove from microwave. This does cook well from frozen in a crock pot.
I used to always purchase these broccoli florets at Walmart. Lately the quality is not what I have come to expect. More stems in every bag, and less florets. So disappointing. I would prefer the quality stay the same, and maybe increase the price by 20 cents a bag or something.
I will never order this again. They should not have the right to call this florets ... they just keep getting worse and worse. They used to be nice florets but now some have had huge florets that are almost half the package in one piece and most of it is stalks. The last one I bought was mostly stalks and all the floret ends were broken off as loose tiny pieces. I always used to get my frozen veggies at Walmart but cheap now means you get what you pay for. I will now be going to Kroger. it might be slightly more but at least I get what it shows on the picture!
I'd give it a negative number review if I could. The bag I purchased 2 weeks or so ago was badly freezer burnt and half the broccoli had something black all over it. I thought, ok nothings perfect all the time so I purchased another bag today to go with our dinner. Not only was it the same situation but way worse! this shouldn't even be available for sale or consumption!
I order this broccoli on a regular basis. The last 4 bags were very different, I immediately noticed yellow pieces, tons of stalks and they were just mushy. 1 bag smelled moldy even after microwaving, needless to say all went into the trash! But I decided to compare the newest bags with one I luckily found still in my freezer "lost" in the back lol. Yep, there is a difference...COUNTRY OF ORIGIN! The 4 awful quality bags were from Guatemala and the other bags that have zero quality issues are from Mexico. So, unless I am physically picking up these bags myself and ensuring they're from Mexico, I will not be purchasing any longer. The broccoli from Guatemala is disgusting, period!!!
The last two bags have been terrible. One, after microwaving per package instructions, when opened was gray and slimy. The second, after microwaving looked okay, but was bitter. I threw both away and will choose alternatives to this brand at least for the near future. Very disappointed.
HORRIBLE!!! I've been buying this in the 2 lbs size for ages and love it, but the broccoli in this size package is NOT the same product. It is woody, not chewable and not edible. I eat tons of broccoli so when Walmart was out of the 2 lb packages I ordered many of this size thinking they would surely be the same. I don't understand how 2 different size packages would contain drastically different quality broccoli. We cannot eat them, so I have a freezer full of broccoli that is NOT edible. Going to throw them away.
