okay, this fish is absolutely delicious it it's so light tasting and if you have an air fryer, you have got to air fry this and I'm going to give you a recipe that's awesome. so just pat dry the fish, and then sprinkle it with some flour and then smear some egg on it and then some great value panko. spray a little bit of spray oil in the air fryer and then when you put the fish in put a little bit of spray oil on the top of the fish and then cook it personally I cook mine at 350 for about 7 to 8 minutes on each side but anyway you do what you want on that part and then when you flip it spray a little more of the spray oil on the top again and I'm not kidding you it's so yummy serve it with veggies maybe a side of some pasta or if you're doing a keto thing maybe a side of some broccoli with some cheese sauce or something I mean you be the judge of that but it's incredible and I've been eating this all week. I wish I had a picture to show you but haha I ate it already so maybe next time. truly it's exciting when you find something this good and it's easy to make and it's like low calorie and everything so I'm so excited! and there's no fishy flavor or anything it's just light flaky and delicious I mean I'm loving it!
I had heard about the Swai fish, but was skeptical. When i gound it in the Great Value brand at the price it is offered, i had to try it. im a new fan of Swai fish. the price was on point, the taste was great! The texture of it was moist but firm, the way you want catfish to. The leftovers were still as good. pop them in air fryer for a few minutes and your right back at that nice golden brow, crispy, full of flavor meal against. it definitely worth the money and the effort to get it.
Personally I do not eat all fish. Only certain ones. And those must not smell or taste fishy ! Therefore, I do not eat approximately 90% of fish. SWAI is the perfect fish for me. SWAI has, in my opinion, NO taste. It takes on the taste of the sauce you cook it in. Whether plain butter with seasoning or dishes with many ingredients. It literally ABSORBS the taste of the sauce it is in. Its super buttery and melts in your mouth (very fragile when cooking also). You can make it dozens of ways and eat it several times a week - you will like it that much. Buy the 2 or 4 lbs bag, as 1 lb will leave you wanting more ! Now if fishy fish is your preference, this is not a fish for you !
Swai fillets are very mild in taste, flaky in texture. They don't leave a "fishy smell" throughout the house. They fry nicely, or do well in the air fryer. Each fillet is bagged individually, which makes it easy to get out one or more at a time, and also facilitate quick thawing in water without effecting the texture or taste . I've bought these many times over the years and never been disappointed in their quality.
Great taste. All my family members love it even the little ones. I gave it to my extended family members and friends as gifts and now they orders them selves as they love it too. But most of them are saying the price should be more moderate. So my request is to see some consideration to minimize the price. Thank you all in the team of Walmart for serving and working hard for their millions of customers.
I was very skeptical to try this fish as I'm extremely picky about fish and man am I glad I did. I rinsed them off and cooked them in a pan to make my fish taco recipe and this fish is fantastic!! I had a friend over and served her my fish tacos and she loved it! Here's my simple fish taco/burrito recipe: 1) Your choice of tortilla - sometimes I pan fry them in avocado oil but you don't have to. 2) Saute this swai fish in a pan with taco seasoning until done. 3) Get a bag of coleslaw tri colored mix or plain coleslaw. 4) Kraft Chipotle Aoli sauce. After fish is cooked place it in the tortilla, put sauce on the fish, and then add the coleslaw on top of it. It's awesome!! Enjoy :)
Steam or microwave the Swai. Swai is delicate and has too high a moisture content for frying or breading. You can bake, broil or saute Swai, but do not fry or bread fish like this which has a very high moisture content. A cheap reusable microwavable personal steamer comes with the Healthy Choice meals. Buy two use to bottom trays to steam, and 2nd as a lid. Remove from microwave and press the lid to form vacuum and let is steam a until flakey. Generally 2 minutes, then let it stand for 2 minutes. Because Swai is short lived and Vietnam uses a low mercury coal, it tests far below levels far below (about 20x less).
Not the best quality, but why are you buying from Great Value if you expect high quality? I'm a college student and this gets the job done when I want something filling. They fall apart pretty easily because they're not the best quality but the taste/smell isn't too fishy. I would not call this fish fresh. More for cooking/baking than for sashimi or sushi for sure.
The best thing about Swai is that you can batter and fry it, cook it with your favorite white wine sauce, or just put some pepper and lemon juice on it. It's just always pretty good. These come individually wrapped so you can serve as many as you'd like.
I really like the Swai Fillets. Poach 'em in a little butter with herbs while you warm a veggie, and you have a super fast dinner. This is NOT what to make when you're super hungry. It's light, not fishy at all, and is budget friendly in the scheme of things. The individually packed fillets make storing easy, too.
