Great Value Garbanzos Chick Peas, 15.5 oz

Lowest price for basic chickpeas in a can. I know I could save even more money by using the dried ones but they take a long time to cook and having canned ones on hand is a lot more convenient. I buy them by the dozen so I always have them on hand.

These are soft and firm Garbanzos Chick Peas. Taste is awesome and feels like you are having fresh food. Please heat before eating as this enhances taste. Garbanzos Chickpeas contain all the amino acids needed for the human body. It's a complete meal and vegetarian too.

To be soft enough for our taste I add water and cook these for 2 to 3 hours before adding raw potatoes and kielbasa, or browned ground beef, actually, whatever meats you like. Another half hour for the flavors to blend and you’re done. Some seasoning of course, whatever you like. A small amount of tomato sauce for flavor. Play with the recipe, make it your own. 4 cans beans, 4 big potatoes bite sized, two kielbasas is the bare bones. DO NOT ADD SALT until the end and it’s almost done. Now taste it for you preferred salt level. The sausage has salt that will distribute. Anyway, good beans, great combo.

I make a recipe with Brown Lentils,Lots of Onions,Chick Peas,Garlic/Herb no salt seasoning. It looks like chopped liver,tastes like chopped Liver I named it "It's Not Chopped Liver" I serve it with Marbled Rye Bread,Romaine Lettuce,and a slice of Red Onion. It is very healthy and that is why I use Chick Peas. It takes the place of the hard boiled egg when you make chopped liver.

I'm trying to eat less meat and I read that eating chick peas combined with eating rice or another grain will give you the complete protein required to be healthy. This was the first time that that I ever ate chick peas. They were good. I put different spices on them along with a little butter and they were good every time, no matter what I did to them. The meals with them were cheaper than meals with meat,so I'm going to try eating meatless, then see how my bank book and my health are after a month. This change was easier than I thought as the chick peas were tastier than I thought they would be. I think I'm going to wind up healthier and wealthier after this month of change.

Is Carranzo chickpeas are perfect I put them in the air fryer. They come out crispy. Sometimes I eat them just like that. Add them to salads. They are great if you’re on a diet, it gives you all the vitamins, fiber and everything you need and they are delicious I usually purchase 3 to 4 cans at a time. I don’t want to run out.

These are good overall. I'd like GV to make a low or no sodium product, however. Many customers are concerned about salt intake, but the healthier options are either to rinse these without knowing if that is effective; take the time to buy a dry version (if there is one) to soak over night; or pay considerably more for a name brand. GV has created many healthier products across its grocery lines, and I'd be grateful for that to continue.

Sadly (and I've tried this product numerous times over the years), these feel severely under-cooked. IOW, they're hard. This is not the case with the other GV-brand canned beans that I buy (black, chili, kidney, and pinto). I'm not sure if further cooking would soften the chickpeas, but I'm unwilling to experiment -- even at their low price, they should be edible... and they're not.

I'm very disappointed with my last two purchases of this product. Two cans had no water come out when I drained them and the chick peas were mush. Please report this to the cannery. Thank you!
