My wife has a collection of African violets and streps that she has growing under this light. The colors that show up from the multicolored led strip lights are fantastic. It gives the red and pink flowers very intense colors that you will never see under any other light source. The box that the led light was packaged in claims that this light is good for 50,000 hours of operation. I noticed from another customers review that it may have a much shorter lifespan. Time will prove what the actual lifespan will be.

The darn thing was toast within two weeks (on overnight). I paid around $24,00 online from you and I am not very happy about it at all!

I just bought three of these bulbs today. When I got home I put one of them into my plant light (to replace my old fluorescent tube), turned it on over my plants, and left the room. About ten minutes later I came into the room and it was filled with smoke. I turned off the light and let it cool down. There was smoke inside the tube and it is a yellow-brown color inside the glass now. I looked on the package and it says it is compatible with magnetic type ballasts, but apparently it isn't. I'm sure this tube would have started a fire if it would have been left on for another 10 minutes. Beware!

At first it seemed like a really nice grow light bulb. About a year after purchase though, the bulb started having trouble. One side basically went out, then it started working again and the other side went out. Then one evening when we checked on our aquaponic garden, the bulb had burn marks on it and had broken in two pieces, apparently due to the fire that had started inside the failing bulb. I would never buy this product again.

I bought this light bulb less than a year ago, for a light fixture that originally housed a fluorescent bulb of the same size. According to the package, this bulb should last 44 years at a use rate of 3 hours per day. I run mine 12 hours a day, but by their math it should still last 11 years. I came home one day to find the light not on. Took a closer look and realized that the bulb looked as if it had shorted out and gotten so hot that it started to burn the LED strip and melt the back of the housing! I am lucky that this did not start a fire and burn my house down while I was away! This product is horrible and should be taken off the market! Stuff like this is what gives Walmart such a bad name for some people.
