I use this in scramled eggs, top soups, in salad, on tacos, in dips, etc, etc. It melts nicely with no clumps. Good on toast, make sauces, in casseroles, and top veggies, etc, etc. Look at price per oz. The 'sale' price may not be the better deal. Two smaller bags can be cheaper than the 'on sale' larger bag. You know your mother told you about this....I freeze this cheese all the time, not after it's been opened, however. The cheese just needs to thaw, and it has not lost flavor or texture. It does better to leave a little air in it the bag when closing it. If you roll the bag to remove all the air, it will develop clumps. I wouldn't consider buying the big brand varieties. If it's mixed with so many other ingredients, would there be any significant difference? You can impress with the specialty cheeses. For every day use, this is my 'go to'.
I really like the regular shreds. I don't particularly care for the finely shredded if I am making something that I want to actually taste like cheese. If it's something that this thickness wouldn't melt in time then ok do the fine. Again, this type is always sold out so apparently they need less of the finely shredded and more of the normal.
I love medium cheddar cheese in the block because it tastes stronger than mild to me. Lately my hands are sore so I bought the shredded in fear it would not taste as awesome. Surprisingly it's great and I can rest my hands not having to shred. Great price too tastes just like the big company brand.
I frequently shop Great Value for cheese. I see no difference in the way it flavors food, or the way it melts, or the way it tastes overall. I could pay more for name-brand items, and sometimes do when it makes a difference. But Great Value cheeses are the wise choice for savings and flavor.
This cheese has a great taste and quality. It melts pretty easily if you want it to melt. It's great on salads or on top of casseroles. Everybody's good as any other brand name shredded cheddar. My family loves it and it's a really great price compared to all the other brands. I would recommend it.
Great value cheeses are always what we go to for the price the quality the quantity overall is absolutely the best value for our family especially when groceries are so high right now and you're having to really stick to a budget. Absolutely I recommend the great value cheeses, the shredded, and the sliced cheeses as well. Both are equally a great value for the money.
I thought I ordered finely shredded cheese. It may have been my mistake but I did want finely shredded. It was for a recipe both times. I'm pretty sure same thing happened last week. Ask the ones who pick it up to be more conscious of what they get. Thanks.
The cheese had too much separator powder to keep it from sticking together. Because of this, it didn't melt well and had a slightly powdery taste. This wasn't apparent a few months ago, but lately has been getting more pronounced. I will go back to block and shredding my own.
Opening not try this because when I tried to open it today for the grilled cheese sandwiches and cheesy mac. However, noticing my helper having difficulty, I asked what the problem was was that one thing¿?? she said ǰ̣ust problems opening that particular one bag of cheese. Here it was already opened! Walmart is getting very lazy! This is shoplifting to me! Now i need to come up eith a $35 min order to get this delivered. There were alsoI other items leaking. I've been a Walmart- Plus customer for years and I feel this may be my breaking point. Not to mention this was part of an order delivered that was missing about 5-6 items i need to reorder!
Nastiest cheese. I normally get shredded cheese from Kroger because it's way better quality but was in a rush so I got it from Walmart. I made baked Mac n cheese with this cheese and it did not melt AT ALL. I baked it for 45 minutes and then 15 more and then even tried to microwave it to melt it and it would not melt. So disgusting. Wasn't even edible. Definitely recommend getting a block and shredding it yourself but I'm pregnant and in the first trimester so I can't do a lot at the moment. Either way, there's no reason cheese shouldn't melt.
