This melting cheese was originally purchased to make rotel, cheese dip… queso. A family favorite! I was a loyal Velveta user for more than 40 years. I got this, because I was trying to cut my expenses, everywhere possible. I've had mostly good experiences with the Great Value brand…. So I reluctantly bought it, but wasn't expecting to like it as much as I do. I have switched to a Great Value brand, instead of the Rotel too. The other day I bought Velveta, and Rotel, because I found them on sale. It tasted too buttery. I can now honestly say that I prefer the Great Value brands when making queso dip The HEB processed cheese, sold to look like Velveeta… no bueno!
Read the ingredients compared to the name brand. I was shocked that Great Value brand has REAL MILK ingredients but the name brand adds oil. Milk is the first ingredient and whey is good for you too. This cheese has 5g protein per serving, 20% calcium and 25% vitamin A. Cheddar Cheese has 9g fat but this cheese only has 6g fat. I feel much better about what I'm feeding our family now.
Honestly, this tastes better than the name brand for $2 more, velveeta. I use this in anything with cheese in it except pizza, especially mac and cheese that only comes with cheese powder. It melts easy, and blends well with grated cheddar cheese when melted. Add some salsa, and you got a great queso dip.
This melting cheese is just as good as the name brand without the larger price tag. I use it for baked macaroni and cheese or make my own cheesy hamburger helper. Grilled cheese, cheese sauce, etc. I like that I can keep it in my pantry, because it doesn't need to be put in the refrigerator until you open it.
Bae brand Velveeta is too salty for me, but the flavor of this one is great. We happened to take a trip to Kroger and bought their brand to make our salsa con queso recipe with, and it absolutely ruined it. I won't use another brand anymore. This one just delivers everything I want.
This is my go to cheese for every recipe that needs the other major brand. It replaced it long ago and you can't tell the difference. You'll never leave the table saying, "don't forget the cheese" for sure
this cheese is WAY better than Velveeta! And cheaper. Vrlveeta is super salty. This cheese has more a cheddar vibe but melts just as easy as Vel. I habe bought product for YEARS now. My fridg always as at least 1 box at all times.
My family and I prefer this over velveeta. its not as soft and has a different taste. We use it for nachos and have tried velveeta on them and this was way way better.
I actually like this cheese a lot and think the ingredients are better than other brands but half the time hasn't been completely sealed and for a shelf stable food that is extra trouble for me. Maybe they'll get their packaging problem worked out and I'll be able to rate it higher some day. On the upside no problems getting a refund on the couple that weren't closed properly
I tried this twice and got the same results each time. Pros: Affordable price, large block of cheese, nice yellow color, and my dogs enjoy it. Cons: Sandy, grainy texture, doesn't taste like Velveeta, melted poorly when I tried it with tortilla chips so I ended up just eating the chips alone, and it has a processed flavor.
