I'd never been a fan of turkey as a lunch meat until I tried thin-sliced mesquite turkey. Both texture and flavor are delicious: mildly sweet, mildly salty, with a subtle overlay of mesquite smoke flavor(sounds like I'm describing wine, not lunch meat, but it is good). I prefer my lunch meat thinly sliced, (which can be hard to find) so everything about this is right up my alley. I also like that there are no nitrates, no nitrites,no artificial flavors or colors and no artificial preservatives in Great Value mesquite smoked turkey breast, Oh, and it's 98% fat free.
I like buying these packaged meat slices because I buy my own sub buns and make my own sub sandwiches. I can't say that thinner slices really do that much for me because I end up putting twice as much on the sandwich to get the flavor and the consistency. I bought different kinds of turkey and ham and they're all pretty solid and I would buy them again.
I have not eaten processed lunchmeat in over a decade. This tasted so good that I purchased a second one to make a full sandwich with lettuce, tomato, etc etc. I do not taste the mesquite. I would need to taste the turkey breast without mesquite to compare it. I always only purchase turkey and chicken whole or parts and cook it. I doubt that I will start eating this processed stuff but I sure did enjoy it.
The only thing I don't like is the meat is wet, but i suppose it must be to remain fresh, and taste good. I simply lay the two slices on a paper towel and cover them with another towel pat them down and let them sit while I add condiments to the bread then put the meat on the bread to finish m y sandwich.
Of all the sliced deli meats, this one is the BEST value for the money and tastes great. Does NOT have the hard little grissle "mystery chunks" you often find in other sliced sandwich meats. Comes sealed in 2 individual packages and you get a nice little Tupperware-like container when you're done. I heat up a plain bagel then add: • This sliced Turkey • Sliced Swiss Cheese • Honey Mustard Quick and easy Sandwich. Yum.
I love turkey for sandwiches and sometimes for salads. The smoked Mesquite Turkey slices are just what you need to add to your cold cut list for a meat tray for any occasion. Try some for yourself, and consider adding it to a meat tray for sandwiches.
I'm fussy about turkey. I don't like that heavy turkey overtone. This meat is always light %26 fresh %26 not a bit heavy-turkey-ish. Lasts a long time, even after opening.
Because this is so salty you can soak the package in filtered water overnight to reduce the sodium content. I enjoy the smoky essence, the texture is good if you consume it quickly. I don't eat this often.
I really enjoyed this smoked turkey! The flavor was great, and while I might have preferred a tad more smokiness and a hint of pepper, it was still very tasty. I appreciate the reusable tub - made storing the deli meat easy and gave me a free reusable container for later! The only downside really is that the slices are a bit tricky to separate as they were rolled up, and I thought they could be slightly thicker. But hey, that's just me being picky. I'd definitely buy this again - it's a great value for the quality. Plus, I had the same experience with their ham products. All in all, a thumbs up from me!
I bought this for cold sandwiches but it's gross. Fresh out of the package the meat is slimy like it was sliced on a blade that wasn't kept clean and bacteria was starting to grow on it. It made me really uncomfortable to eat slimy sandwich meat. It tasted alright but I did not like that slime on it. After that first time I only ate it after I cooked it. It cooks up very quickly, it has a lot of water it in it. The slices shrunk up and were swimming in water. I had to lay them on paper towel to dry off before putting into a sandwich. It's cheap but you get you pay for don't you.
