This has so many different uses you can slice and put on your favorite burger or slice it up and make a ooey gooey grilled cheese sandwiches slice and put on toast or like my son likes to shred and sprinkle all over his pizza rolls just all kinds of ingredients.
This cheeses tastes good and is very reasonably priced. The bar I had was just a bit crumbly, but sometimes you get that depending on the sharpness of the cheese. It didn't bother me and I like the cheese; I am just describing it for other people who might mind. The cheese was well dated and didn't need to be used right away -although we ate it right away anyhoo.
I prefer to shred my own cheese. Great Value is true to their name. I've had no negative experiences in the taste, quality, texture, or value of this block of cheese Everything. I would recommend. Sprinkle that sweetness right on your burritos, tacos or toast and give it a try for yourself!
Obviously this isn't a fine aged cheddar. What it is, though, is a great everyday cheddar, the kind you can put on hot dogs or in a quick grilled cheese. It melts beautifully when you want it to. It has great texture when you don't melt it. Certainly equal to name brands in such situations. Definitely worth keeping in the fridge for everyday meals and snacks.
Bought this Great Value Mild Cheddar Block Cheese (16 oz) expecting “fine.” What I got was a dependable, no-nonsense slab of cheddar that shows up to work every day and never complains. Slices clean. Melts like it understands the assignment. Mild enough to keep the peace, but still cheddar enough to remind you it has standards. It upgraded my grilled cheese, carried a taco night, and didn't crumble under pressure on a snack plate. Is it fancy? No. Is it trying to be? Also no. Is it quietly better than cheeses that cost twice as much? Absolutely. This is the cheese you buy “just for cooking” and then keep eating straight from the fridge at midnight. Reliable. Affordable. Mildly impressive. A true overachiever in block form.
This cheese melts well. It's quality cheese and affordable. It makes a great grilled cheese sandwiches with Walmart's sourdough bread. It would be delicious on crackers too or sliced on a charcuterie board. Cheese is a good source of calcium and taste yummy.
I love this cheese and it is a good value fur the size. The flavor is mild but still packs good flavor. It is versatile fur all types of used from snacks to cooking.
i eat this cheese everrrry day ! i has a creamy mild but cheese flavor. great alone, or in dishes, grate it yourself. works good on pizza or toppings for hot things.
When I opened up my grocery bag after pick up the cheese block packaging was not suctioned flat to the cheese. There was air in the package. The cheese was a different texture than the normal great value cheese blocks I get at Walmart. Not as solid and didn't stay together when I cut it. Tried to shred it but that was difficult. It reminded me of squishy velveta cheese. Flavor was fine but not the good kind to eat with crackers and meats and stuff. Ended up putting the pieces in chili. Not sure if I just got a bad batch or if great value cheese is not as good quality anymore.
Bought this for a tried and true broccoli %26 cheese soup recipe… it started melting but then formed a clump that would not melt into the soup. Almost broke my immersion blender trying to make it work but it just will not melt into the soup. Thankfully I had some Cabot cheddar and was able to save my soup after fishing out all of this “cheese”. The Cabot cheese melted into the soup quickly and beautifully. This cheese solidified into a hard, waxy, crumbly brick after I removed it from my soup. Never have I experienced such disappointment with a cheese, which is why I sincerely doubt that this is actually 100% cheese. Don't waste your money on this!
