Great Value Thick Slice bacon is my first choice. Best value for the money. Fries up nice without excess amount of fat. I do flip the bacon packages over and look for the meatiest bacon when I'm in the store. This is the only bacon I pick when I'm doing a pickup order and an order filler is doing the shopping.
I purchased this bacon to use in a cabbage and onion. Recipe. I cut it up in pieces and fried it up about half way then used the drippings to add a bag of slaw mix along with a diced onion. I cooked all this, seasoned with salt and pepper until tender then served with pork chops and another prepared vegetable. This bacon was flavorful, consistently firm and didn’t fry away. I really love making this dish for my family and you’ll enjoy using this product for your recipes as well.
First ~ $4.18 for a POUND ... NOT 12 OR 14 OUNCES ~ A POUND! (*Stop assuming things are like they used 2b cuz They're NOT! Shrinking Sizes w/ Rising Prices cuz u don't pay attention ~ Always Read your labels!!) ... $4.18 for a POUND of Good, QUALITY, Thick, Fresh bacon that doesn't curl or shrink excessively while cooking ~ THAT'S A GREAT VALUE!
This Great Value bacon tastes just as great as name brand. We enjoy cooking it in the microwave to get nice and crisp. It was delicious crumbled on cheesy grits with some green onions. It also has a smoky, salty taste that's a great addition to sandwiches, wraps, and crumbled in breakfast burritos. Our household prefers thick cut bacon and this brand does a good job of being thick while still crisping well.
I bought this because I needed bacon grease to add to beans. Surprisingly it did not have an excessive amount of fat or Grease. It turned out to be just the right thickness and it tasted great. I plan to buy more with my next order because it was so good.
Although it is sad to be thick cut, this bacon is a bit on the thin side. The taste is, however, very enjoyable. This is great for breakfast, on top of salads, and casseroles, and for sandwiches. The quality is OK for the time in which we live, but Walmart can do better.
I like the flavor of this thick cut bacon. My biggest complaint is it isn't consistent in slice size and definitely not on taste. I have gotten some that is terribly salty or the slices are very difficult to get apart and sliced different thickness. Even though I have some complaints the value is good and I do continue to purchase it.
Ordered 2 one pound (16 oz) packages. One of them was 16 oz, The other one did not feel right. I weighed it, unopened, on 2 diferent food scales. It was only 12 oz on both scales. Understandding packaging variations , of course. Someone mislabeled a 12 oz as 16 oz. Improve your quality control. Otherwise the bacon is what would be expected for such a great price for bacon. Very nice bacon for the price.
I really appreciate it when I’m sick and can’t get out to shop. But the bacon was pretty much all fat. Very little meat on it. I know the shopper is busy and doesn’t have time to look at the meats. But I like I said I was sick and couldn’t get out. But thank you for having this program. Everything else was great.
This was awful. I wouldn't even call it bacon because nothing about it was anything like bacon. The "fat" was very grisley feeling and hard to chew when its the easiest to chew on any other bacon. The flavor was sour and lacked salt. This was the first time I've bought Great Value bacon because I usually buy Wright (on a budget so I got this instead). I should've just paid the extra money for Wright Bacon. My kids even hated this. If I'm being honest, it reminded me of scrap meat. Disgusting.
