Perfect Breakfast for Elderly

John June 26, 2025

First, the risk of consuming toxins in non-organic oats is too much for me to bear, so I only buy organic oats now. I tried the "red" brand steel cut oats alternative, and I found that the GV brand a lot easier to cook and consume. Although this is not a "diet" food per se and better for people trying to gain weight rather than lose, it is a very healthy breakfast food.

I've been trying to eliminate processed foods from my diet and this product actually helps keep the digestive system busier than regular oatmeal. I definitely use both but I can make a batch of this Monday morning (takes 20-30 minutes to cook) large enough for m-f, I refrigerate the rest and just add milk and warm up. It definitely takes longer to break down and keeps me content until lunch time. Thank you for giving me the best option available for this product, I admire companies that prioritize science and healthy lifestyles for their customers. The longer u keep me around, the more I will have to buy. Common sense sells when people choose to live smarter.

Yum and Easy

Kellynn January 12, 2026

Great taste. I prepare these with oat milk, brown sugar, vanilla, and butter. I use my rice cooker and they cook perfectly every time. The family loves them.

great start for the day

Anonymous January 27, 2026

This is very filling and if you haven't had steel cut oats before they're nothing like regular oatmeal that is mushy, this is more nutty and flavorful. Easy to make, a little brown sugar and a dash of salt and you're set.

This was the first time I had tried steel cut oatmeal. It wasn't gummy like the quick oats. The texture is very different from the Quaker Oats. I did enjoy it.

me October 8, 2022

I was recently diagnosed with diabetes and I changed my diet. I did a lot of reading to findbetter choices. I added these oats to my breakfast routine. after 3 months, I lost 57 pounds and my A1C went from 13.5 to 7.1. I am now having trouble finding a store near me who is carrying it. I bought the Quaker brand BUT I don't really like them. WALMART PLEASE ALLOW THE PURCHASE OF THIS AT LEAST THROUGH SHIPPING.

This oatmeal pales in comparison to Bob's Red Mill. I bought it thinking I would get the same crunchy, chewy nuggets I enjoy. I instead recieved cut up pieces that might as well had been regular Oatmeal. The instructions also tell you to use too much water. I will not buy again.

Not The Same Product!

Richard March 18, 2021

I have been buying this product for years. I just received my latest order, and it is not the same. The name is the same, but the packaging is different. When I cooked up a batch, the product is also different. It is mushy and sticky, and taste different. I believe Walmart has switched supplier. I will not be buying this product in the future.

There is something in these that is so hard and gritty I was afraid it would break my teeth. I tried several containers thinking it was just a bad batch, but it was the same with all of them. They were so bad that I had to throw them out. I will buy the Quaker instant steel cut oats from now on.

Definitely NOT Steel Cut Oats

Guin April 24, 2021

Whatever this is, it's definitely NOT steel cut oats. It looked and cooked just like quick-cook oatmeal. Either the stuff in the package wasn't the correct product, or Wal-Mart has no idea what steel cut oats actually are. Either way, don't waste your money on whatever this is.
