These instant grits have been a favorite for years- much better than the national brand. Add a little butter %26 pepper... So good. I was very disappointed when our local Walmart stopped carrying them. With Walmart , they're delivered in just a couple of days, with no added shipping. -happy sigh- ;>)
Growing up in a the Southm I have eaten grits my whole life. As a very young woman I cooked the regular grits, which takes about 20 minutes and requires care not to scorch. Then I used Jim Dandy quick grits, took 5 minutes. Then suddenly my choices at my closest grocer were just the major brand starts witha Q, which are garbage in my opinion. When i started getting the Walmart plus, and having groceries delivered, I slowly started trying their brands. As its just 3 of us now, I decided to try the GV instant. Way cheap. Waay easy. And waaay good too! Perfect for any meal, with eggs, with fish, add cheese for a new taste. Let get cold, saute chopped onion till carlemized, add the cold grits and chop with side of a spoon. Add a few beaten eggs, some salt and lot sof pepper and stir till cooked. I love this as a lunch or light dinner. Adding some crumbled baon is even better. But all so easy with these grits.
I really don't want to say this because I'm afraid these instant grits will become so popular they'll be almost impossible to find. :) Seriously, they are probably the best instant grits I've ever purchased. Very creamy, not grainy and have a great taste
Multi-Generational Southerner, Trans-Atlantic imported to the Carolinas during the late 17th Century, lol, so an expert here on grits. And I was surprised that the texture was the heartiest of any name brand, but not too coarse. The water does need to be brought to a rolling boil for 3 minutes or so, add some REAL salted butter, and it gets surprisingly creamy as you stir and no more salt is needed. A quick breakfast or a lunch when I am teleworking, I add extra sharp cheddar, 1 scrambled egg, Great Value bacon bits, and green onions when Walmart has them in the produce section. Serve with Great Value roundtop bread toasted with butter. Enjoy!
These are great! Always bought Quaker before. Saw there was a GV option. Fixed my first one today. So good. I added a spoon of margarine and pepper. Way better than Quaker. Smooth and easy to cook. It suggests 1/2 cup of water. Think I'll use a bit more next time. I can't do oatmeal, it doesn't like me. So if you want something warm in your tummy. Get the GV brand. I might try the flavors next order.
Really do not care tell anyone that it is good because all you guys will be buying then shelves will be empty. It is way better, just don't buy all of it, leave a coupe boxes for me please:)
Like these much better than name brands, which tend to stay a little hard and gritty in micro wave no matter what i do. This GV brand cooks perfect in a minute and taste great!
They were out of my usual brand so I tried these. I was amazed that bowl after bowl there are NO LUMPS. Just stir and smooth. The other brand had to be stirred, mash up the lumps and keep stirring and mashing. I'll buy these from now on.
My mother %232, had a very hard time finding these grits. She 84 years young so told told that I would order her a box online. We'll she said order me 3 boxes so I will have them. Thank you
I usually purchase the Butter flavored package of %2322 Grits brand name, Quaker Instant Grits….I tried the generic brand. The grits were larger, , flavor absent. Not a bargain for my breakfast.
