Amid of all the inflation, I have challenged myself to purchase and try the less expensive brands. Some of my Family member's are picky, but after I told them to eat or starve, they tried it and liked it. So this is one of my regular grocery lists now. Thank you Walmart.
A staple to have in my fridge is sour cream. I now use this because it is every bit as good as the name brand "dollop" with quite a bit less damage to the food budget. I find it works just as well in dips, sauces, as a topping for potatoes (another staple in Idaho) try it for yourself and I don't believe you will taste or notice any difference but the price!
I love sour cream and have tried a lot of different brands, so I was pleasantly surprised when I finally purchased the Great value brand to try. it has been consistently of a great quality and delicious taste and texture. why spend more for a big name?
This senior, Senior starts this review with a caveat;" my review on my taste on my budget". You can figure out the comment to my comment yourself. And now, that makes you think of a comment! and we ain't got to the Sour Cream! I like it! I put it on my burritos; breakfast, lunch and dinner type. In my soups, as a dip and to make a salad dressing. Cucumber salad dressing: cucs sliced, mushrooms, onions sliced. Marinate over night in 4 parts H2O, 1 part vinegar. Rinse, put in sour cream and a touch of mayo and stir. Figure out how sour or creamy you like it next try.
it's actually a bit creamier and “fluffier” than regular sour cream so it tastes just as good but feels a bit lighter,, so I prefer it over other name brands if eating on chips or something like that , but might not be thick enough if you're cooking with it
I only buy the Great Value sour cream because it saves me money, taste good, I think lasts longer than other name brand sour creams, and it works well in recipes. So, if I can save money and it tastes good, why wouldn't I buy it? Definitely recommend the Great Value sour cream.
We normally get the Daisy brand sour cream. I didn't like the flavor of this as much when eating it plain, so for things like topping burritos we will likely stick with Daisy. However, when needing sour cream to mix into a dip of some sort or for baking/cooking purposes, this substitutes in beautifully. We made homemade french onion dip with it and it was outstanding.
Something has changed with this sour cream. I have bought it for many years, but recently it has a very unappealing smell and flavor. I have recently bought multiple tubs on multiple occasions so I know it isn't something to do with a particular batch/storage. I decided to buy Daisy to see if it was truly an issue with the Great Value brand, or me. The Daisy sour cream smelled and tasted fine. So, as I said before they have changed something with this product recently and it is horrible. I will not buy the Great Value sour cream again.
the sour cream arrived it was almost liquid like water you couldn't mix it up for nothing to naked come back to the texture that sour cream is supposed to be there was terrible I know what happened this had been frozen before and then somebody just put it in the refrigerator at Walmart and hope somebody would buy it so I want my money back for sure
I've bought this sour cream numerous times with no issues. However, when I got my delivery this time it was not only past the 'best by' date, but it was grainy and watery which means it had been frozen at some point. Normally when I buy sour cream the date is a good month away which makes this even worse. It was 5 days past.
