Okay great value has really good item and the prices are great. Made lasagna for the family didn't want to spend a lot for ricotta tried this one I usually use great value but never the ricotta. Tried it with lasagna.sane great taste and the price makes it right!!
I made chicken lasagna. Top section of the vodka sauce, mixed Italian cheese, chicken, lasagna noodles, Alfredo sauce, sausage, mixed Italian cheeses, peppers with pepperonis, ricotta cheese, lasagna noodles, vodka sauce, sweet peppers mix, chicken, mixed Italian cheeses, plain ricotta cheese, lasagna noodles, Alfredo sauce and mixed Italian cheeses.
I didn't know what to expect, Ive only had ricotta in lasagna and haven't had that for many years. this ricotta tasted like light cream in custard form to me -- you wouldn't know to use it for a dessert or a savory dinner. I liked it just from the container. I put some on toast with honey to get a cream long John type flavor. I mixed some with blueberries. I choose up some scallions and mixed it in and ate it with celery..was good on all accounts. cottage cheese is quite high in sodium and high sodium messes up your potassium levels. I was looking for an alternative. I wish this was lower in fat or fat free because id buy loads of it. cottage cheese is lower in fat but loaded with salt. this was good, just wish it was fat free.
As an Italian- ricotta is a widely used ingredient. I usually use full fat ricotta - but am trying to move towards lower fat options. I grabbed some of the part skin ricotta - it did not disappoint! It was creamy and delicious - worked wonderfully in both dessert dishes and savory dishes (I did stuffed manicotti and a “noodle-less lasagna” and the ricotta was delicious!
I like Great Value reduced fat ricotta cheese. Please bring it back! It is better than the Great Value whole milk ricotta cheese. Better than cottage cheese also.
Smooth, cool, not too gritty but perfect ricotta To serve with fruit or to blend with more flavourful flavourful ingredients and cheeses. Love to eat it right out of a carton and love that it's half the fat.
This house brand offering's best quality is its value, a dollar less than my preferred brand, also carried here... unlike the Galbani mentioned, the Great Value doesn't have the "authentic" grain and taste one might expect from this versatile Italian cheese... it's fine added to pasta or a tablespoon to thicken some soup... not especially sweet or salty, but still a good buy
I have been selecting the Great Value Part Skim Ricotta 15oz for years, because while it has the lowest sodium, (iportant for my health), amongst its competitors, it has an excellent flavor which works in a number of my favorite recipes (i.e. Frittata, light cheesecake, dips, spreads). I would love to give it 5 stars across each survey line but I have experienced 2 minus features: 1. The TEXTURE varies from lot to lot in creaminess/smoothness 2. It is only available in the small size, so given gas prices, I would appreciate Walmart offering it in a large size (like their yogurt).
Almost too sweet. Made stuffed shells with it. Acidity of tomato gravy helped balance out sweetness. If I wasn't using a tomato product with it I'd probably only use it for making desserts.
I ordered regular ricotta cheese and they substituted it for skim milk ricotta. There were other ricottas not skim milk. They could've chose from. I cannot use this on my recipe.
