I'm extremely picky about cheese. I usually don't like store brand or generic cheese. However, this provolone cheese is great. It takes just as good as higher priced name brand provolone slices. So far, all the Great Value sliced cheeses I've tried have been very good.
I've found that toasting this provolone is the best way to use it, it brings something out in a good way. Note that I have Lyme Disease, and that has messed up my sense of tase, BUT. I get a nice sub roll, layer one side with salami, other with provolone, introduce it to my toaster oven, and good to go. I add lettuce and (now don't freak out) pickles and ranch dressing.
This Great Value Provolone sliced cheese is basically the James Bond of the cheese world: smooth, sophisticated, and somehow ridiculously versatile. Slap a slice on a sandwich and suddenly your lunch is whispering, “I’m fancy, but approachable.” Sprinkle it on a burrito and boom — instant creamy goodness with a subtle sweetness that makes you question if you even need salsa. We even tried it chopped up in salads (don’t judge me) and it somehow upgraded the whole plate. The slices melt beautifully, fold like a dream, and have the perfect gentle flavor punch that says, “I’m here, but I won’t steal the spotlight.” 19 slices of delicious, melty magic — keep this stocked and your sandwiches, burritos, and even salads will thank you profusely.
This was a substitute for Havarti cheese, but it was meant to be because I was actually putting together a homemade pizza to bake in the oven and I ran out of mozzarella cheese so I added some slices of this provolone cheese to the pizza before baking and WOW that was the difference needed to make a good pizza a great pizza! Happy with this substitution
I think I like the texture and thickness of this the most. It goes well on many kinds of hot or cold sandwiches or burgers. The slices have no problem with sticking to each other. The round shape matches may kinds of patties and buns. It is frustrating that Walmart won't carry the authentic and desirable smoked version and they go out of their way to say it is not smoked, as though that is better but it is actually not as good. The real thing is smoked and worth a higher price. Provolone has a stretchy melt that usually won't drip off of a hot sandwich.
French Onion Soup with melted provolone. The flavor!!! Grilled cheese sandwich, topping for garlic bread. It’s delicious and inexpensive to wake up your favorite recipes.
I buy these for my husband I like to use them on my turkey burgers they melt really good they're good on any kind of sandwiches I also use them in breakfast burritos they're the same great taste as the more expensive brand but they're much cheaper
I normally don't buy Great Value dairy products, but I bought this when my normal brands weren't available. I wasn't disappointed. The taste isn't quite a sharp as the other brands, so whatever you use it for - double it for beef or consider using it for breakfast or deli sandwiches.
Slices are smaller than the national brands. Okay for the price and for budget conscious shoppers. I have boughten many times when my money is tight. Fairly good flavor.
Mild, dependable, and gets along with everything. Not exciting, but sometimes you just need a cheese that shows up and does its job. Even though my review is 3/5 Stars, I still buy this 3-4 times a week. I love cheese. And this is cheap.
