Great Value Raisins 12oz

I really hate leaving a negative review and do so rarely, but I feel I have to in this case. I decided to save some money and buy Walmart's brand of raisins, as I am always open to trying store brands at least once for comparison. In this case, it was a huge mistake. These raisins were not outdated, having another 5 months left on their recommended use-by date. Upon opening them, I found them to be very dry with a crystalized sugary texture to them. The ingredients list says there is nothing but raisins, no sugar added, so obviously there is something wrong with the way they process or pack them. I had no choice but to use them, as I was in the middle of baking and the local stores were closed. I live in a small town 60 miles from a Walmart. I decided to soak them for a few minutes in hot water to rehydrate them. These were the worst raisins I have ever eaten, and I am a big fan of raisins. I can't say if this was just a "bad batch" or what, but I don't plan on taking a chance on them again. I will stick with name brand raisins.
