I have been consistently impressed with the Great Value line of products lately, and this tomato paste is no exception. It is every bit as rich, thick, and flavorful as the more expensive name-brand alternatives I used to buy. It provides a perfect base for my sauces and stews, and I am thrilled to have found such a high-quality product that helps me save money on my grocery bill. I will definitely be stocking up on this from now on.
I don't remember which chef said this but I'll never forget what he said, "When making a pizza don't use tomato sauce, do yourself a favor, use tomato paste with a bit of italian seasoning. " I have to agree. the seasoning light or heavy works with the paste and it doesn't drip and scald you, It's a bit challenging to spread, Mix seasoning and paste in a bowl to make it a bit more spreadable. I'll never waste money on pizza sauce again.
It's tomato paste. Made from tomatoes. It's not spicy, unless you think tomatoes are spicy. Great Value brand is fine. Tip for savings %26 value: There's no need to use name brand tomato paste - there can't possibly be any benefit for name brand tomato paste unless you have to have organic or something. We add it to stews, chili, soups to add a richer flavor %26 a thickness. We usually have it with beans, meat %26 beans, and also use the diced %26 stewed Great Value canned tomatoes. I like the Italian seasoned Petite diced tomatoes, but that's not necessary.
This tomato paste is rich, thick, and packed with deep tomato flavor. A small amount goes a long way and really enhances sauces, soups, and stews. It adds a nice color and savory depth to recipes. Very convenient to use and a must-have in the kitchen pantry. I would definitely buy it again! 🍅😊
Great Value Tomato Paste is an excellent pantry staple that delivers rich, concentrated tomato flavor at a fantastic price. It blends smoothly into sauces, soups, stews, chili, and casseroles, adding depth and color without overpowering other ingredients. The quality is consistently reliable, making it a great value for everyday cooking. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an affordable, flavorful tomato paste that performs just as well as more expensive brands.
Great value never disappoints. I made a lasagna soup and also used the great value diced tomatoes and great value tomato sauce. I added herbs, ground beef and great value bow tie pasta noodles in a crock pot and cooked on low a few hours. A few shreds of mozzarella on top and you've got a great value great meal! 🥣
As far as I know cause I use this for homemade chili. It's did the job. I was hoping it would do although I didn't have much of a recipe planned to go by just well I kinda went by one, but I didn't exactly fault. What all the way so but whatever I did, it turned out just fine so yeah.
Excellent tomato paste and at an excellent price. While the best tomato paste comes in the cardboard tubes, Thereby preserving the most flavor as the canning process itself does induce its own flavor. I can't say using it out of a can has ever made a difference for me, however, it does tend to be an expensive item, so I have never personally used a tube version yet. Even Amazon can't beat the price of Walmart. I also highly recommend walmart plus as the monthly fee is very small and the savings are huge, especially when I can put something like this on repeat and save even more. Also, being able to cancel or skip a subscription at my leisure. So there's never any pressure. I use this with seasoning like basil to make my own tomato and basil soup, and it comes out flawless at a fraction of the cost. And i'm all about the cost.
Being a canned sauce with a Walmart name and a very non-exciting label on the can, I really didn't expect much. However, I was wrong. I grew a lot of tomatoes and I make a lot of my own sauce but when that's not possible for whatever reason., this is what I grab and then I Doctor it up to my liking. I can use this as a baseline and make a pizza sauce, and there are different types of pizza sauce, or I can cook it and make it into a spaghetti sauce, or a great marinara sauce for meatballs. I think I have perfected my home pizza making and whenever I'm doing a New York style, Detroit style or Tavern type, I use this to supplement either fresh tomatoes, tomato purée, or even whole tomatoes.
No spiciness at all. Texture is a bit grainy, so I switch to tomato sauce (unseasoned) when making stew. Tomatoes seem a bit bland nowadays, so I tried this on Tricuit crackers for a snack. Eh, stronger flavor than fresh tomatoes, but still not what I wanted primarily due to the graininess in texture. Tomato sauce would be too runny on crackers for a snack, so I'll stick with fresh Roma tomatoes on crackers. Even in stew, I could feel the graniness, so I switched to tomato sauce. It isn't bad, just not the texture I wanted. Otherwise, the product tastes reasonably fresh for canned paste. Very similar to name-brand pastes in a can.
