I have long had problems finding a decent filter for my water pitcher. Most off the filters I have tried left charcoal in my water that rendered my water undrinkable. This product does not. I rinsed it under the tap and when I put it my water pitcher and added the water and there was no charcoal. I love this and will continue to use this product.
The filters work great in just about any pitcher. I have a PUR pitcher and these fit perfectly in them. There is no need to lock or twist the filter, just simply set inside pitcher reservoir. These work for up to forty gallons of filtered water ( roughly two months). The great value filters have iron exchange resin and a coconut shell activated carbon.
I got a 4-pack of Great Value's Universal Pitcher Filters to use in my own pitcher. The filter diameter is 2.3” – I had a little trouble finding that information on the packaging – it is in tiny print type. The filter reduces chlorine's taste and odor, and levels of mercury, zinc, cadmium, and copper. It also meets the standards for low lead content compliance. I think that as important as it is to reduce these contaminants and substances, I also enjoy the taste of the water. A 4-pack of pitcher filters that can last up to (8) months, each with the capacity to filter up to 40 gallons of water, saves me money.
I'm new to filtering my water and I can definitely taste a difference. It makes me feel even better and safer to know I'm getting all the impurities out of my tap water. I know my children are being cared for by drinking healthy water. These filters were very easy to use for first timers like myself. I didn't have any trouble following the directions and using them on my pitcher. I like how long each filter will last until I have to change it. It's such a unique experience to have something so small clean water and have it safe for someone to drink. I can't believe I went more than 30 years not filtering my water. I know I will never go back.
The great value 4 pitcher filter replacements are great. They are universal so they fit into most water pitcher or dispensers. They are tested by the water quality association so you know they are safe. Same great filters just less cost. No more bottle water for me unless I fill it from my pitcher. Clean crisp water great taste.
Clean, cool water is very refreshing and tastes great after having been filtered by the Great Value filter pitcher replacement filter into the pour pitcher and stored in the refrigerator for a while. The Great Value filter pitcher replacement filters are designed to fit "Brita, Great Value, and other brand pitchers." I found the Great Value replacement filters to be exactly as described. Each Great Value filter pitcher replacement filter is individually wrapped. These Great Value filter pitcher replacement filters remove 5 contaminants. The Great Value filter pitcher replacement filter is rated to filter 40 gallons which is about 2 month's use. After removing the wrapper, submerge the filter in tap water for 15 minutes. When you have soaked the Great Value filter pitcher replacement filter for 15 minutes, flush the filter and drain the excess water. Install the Great Value filter pitcher replacement filter by seating it firmly in pour pitcher. There is no need to twist filter, just press it in place. The directions suggest using the first two pitchers of water to “water plants or just discard.” There was just a few, small, visible carbon particles in the bottom of my first pitcher and nothing in the second pitcher.
I have found that these store brand replacement filters work as well as the name brand, at a lower cost! These cost about $9.88 today, and four-pack of Brita brand are $19.82 I like that, half-price. The filters themselves look the same, and I have to admit I can only assume they work the same, because I do not have the Science lab testing capabilities to test my filtered water. It tastes good—better than my tap water—no chemical or chlorine taste—and looks clear! I would recommend this product.
I like that the filter carbon is coconut shell activated carbon. If lead is not a concern for your water supply then I would recommend this filter. Great value. Fits my Brita Pitcher. Easy set up as long as you follow the instructions. Lasts about 2 months. Water tastes good, clean.
It's always nice to find a product that works as well as the name-brand product, but at a substantially lower cost. Unfortunately, these Great Value Universal pitcher replacement filters don't fall into that category. They do filter tap water into the "big name brand" pitcher and they do remove the contaminants that cause the tap water to taste bad. However, the name-brand filters do this task, for my 10-cup pitcher, in 2 minutes and 30 seconds. The Great Value Universal pitcher replacement filter only had 5 cups - 1/2 of a pitcher - filtered at 30 MINUTES. Not sure where the technology went wrong; it looks like the Great Value filter is much smaller than the name brand, so maybe the charcoal particles are too tightly packed? In any case, unless you have an hour to wait for your pitcher to refill, stick with the name brand filters.
mine appeared to just be sand and some charcoal [?] specks inside. i presoaked and rinsed filter and water runs through very fast. if it filters anything it does it quick. i saw no difference with ice cubes-- from the tap or the filtered water. to me it does virtually nothing except maybe trap any solids that may get in top on container by accident.
