I use this size bottle of cooking oil in my deep fryer. The fryer holds the entire bottle so I am able to purchase this and know my deep fryer will hold the entire bottle for my usage. I then use the empty bottle to refill my used oil so I don't pour it down my sink drain. Then take my used oil to the oil recycle bin in my local area.
We always use this, or almost always. We've tried other brands, but they're too expensive and/or taste strange, like old grease. I use this instead of olive oil for many of my appetizers dishes, pairs well with tomatoes, doesn't have a strong smell, and is great for my blood pressure. We'll stick with Great Value Vegetable Oil!
The jar design, mainly the handle by the lid makes this easy to carry from storage to the counter. I do a lot of baking. This size allows me to bake many things without dreading running out halfway through the recipe. It is well packaged and sealed. I have not experienced any leaks in shipping nor storage.
This jug of Great Value Vegetable Oil is the dependable kitchen workhorse everyone needs. It heats evenly, fries beautifully, and stays neutral so your food tastes just the way you want it. The gallon size lasts a long time, making it perfect for big families, batches of frying, or holiday cooking marathons. The container pours smoothly without making a mess, and the price is unbeatable for the quality. Reliable, versatile, and budget-friendly — a true pantry essential!
This is a high-quality oil with a very smooth and light flavor. It doesn't leave a heavy, greasy aftertaste, which I love. It heats up well and is perfect for all my everyday meals. You really can't beat the quality for this price point. A solid 5-star product from Walmart!
This is the best price on basic vegetable oil for cooking, frying and baking. The plastic container is durable and easy to move around with the handle. I keep this big container on hand for when I am making home fried chicken, since I don't make it often enough to reuse the oil.
If you are looking for a reliable, neutral cooking oil that lets the true flavor of your food shine through, this one-gallon bottle of Great Value Vegetable Oil is an absolute staple. It has earned a permanent spot in my pantry because it handles everything from basic everyday cooking to high-heat searing without any issues. Because it is 100% soybean oil, it has a remarkably high smoke point. When you want to get a perfect, crispy crust on everything from pan-seared chicken wings to roasted potatoes, this oil delivers that satisfying crunch without scorching or smoking up the kitchen. It has absolutely zero heavy or greasy aftertaste, which is exactly what you want from a versatile oil. Lately, it has been my absolute go-to for processing and preserving fresh garden produce. When you are working with rich, flavorful ingredients like home-grown tomatoes—whether you are roasting them down for a deep, savory pasta sauce, pan-frying green tomatoes, or preserving garden-fresh herbs—you don't want an oil that fights for center stage. This vegetable oil behaves like a perfect team player: it carries the heat and builds the texture, letting the vibrant, sweet flavor of the tomatoes be the absolute star of the dish. The only minor thing to keep in mind is handling the container. A one-gallon plastic bottle is fantastic for value, but it can be a bit heavy and clumsy to pour from when you just need a quick splash in the pan. To make life easier in the kitchen, I highly recommend decanting a portion of it into a smaller, easy-pour glass jar or oil cruet to keep right by the stove. It makes daily cooking much more precise, and you can leave the large jug tucked away until it's time for heavy-duty frying or baking. Bottom line: It's affordable, heart-healthy, and performs exactly how you need it to. Whether you are aiming for a crispy fry or simmering down a summer harvest, it's a massive value for any busy home cook.
This is a great product to use. I use it for appetizers, for baking, frying, etc. For about nine dollars this is a great value for the size. This bottle usually last me more than a month and I highly recommend anyone else who fries food rather, you do it often or not to buy this large size as it will be used over and over again
I had some things I wanted to fry but the prices these days just keep going up, the last time I bought some cooking oil I think I paid 15 dollars so I was putting off the deep frying for a while then I happened to come across this item. Great Value has been saving my taste-buds for years and now I can eat my favorite fried foods.
I'm so sorry, Wally World! Although so MANY Great Value products are pretty good to great, this is not one of them. Despite it leaving food fairly crispy, it tastes a bit like fish oil. Definitely not a fan of it for deep frying or regular cooking (unless as a drop in white rice). I am pretty certain that I will not be purchasing it again.
