There are everything you would expect from canned mushroom stems and pieces. They taste fine. They are a bit rubbery in texture, the same as all canned mushrooms are. They cook well and are great in recipes. Their value has gone downhill in recent years and I am finding myself comparing them to fresh prices far more often than I once did. But they are still awesome for shelf safe storage.
Not everyone likes mushrooms like I do so the size of the can is perfect. All mushrooms have a different that I like, even fresh ones. For cooking these mushrooms have nice taste %26 texture. I can even cut them up a little so no one can get a big chunk. Thank you for a good product.
Canned mushrooms are really not worth the price anymore, but fresh isn't any cheaper. I tried many brands to find the best tasting canned and Walmart's still comes up on top with a reasonable price. Some I tried were tasteless and will be dumping into soups. You can't go wrong with Great Value.
the small can and medium sized can of mushrooms go well with any of your Ramen or noodle dishes that are microwavable as well as mushroom and potato soup as well as the bean sprouts that are in the can I would add those with a couple of eggs when you microwave it so that you'll have a couple of poached eggs in there for protein the bean sprouts add a lot of texture along with the mushrooms if you want to thicken It Up Add a can of mushroom soup or potato soup or add in some cornstarch mixed with a small amount of milk or water microwave it for a minute Shake It Up in a small chili con queso jar with a lid and pour that in those chili con queso jars by the way if you wash them and clean them and put them in a box they work well with putting your long green onions on your kitchen counter with some half a jar of water and refill it with water every 3 or 4 days you'll have some green onions keep some scissors handy to cut off the tops as you will have to trim those twice a week
I started buying canned mushrooms because I got tired of fresh mushrooms not lasting as long as they used to and going soft within a week. I use these mushrooms every time I sauté, make soup, bake a casserole, an omelette or scrambled eggs.. The pieces are nice size and the quality and texture are great. The only thing I don't use them in is a fresh salad. Highly recommend.
Great value says it all. I get these if I am not feeling like cooking fresh. Great on pizza, in spaghetti and on eggs (make sure you drain them, of course). I have gotten less of the stems and more of the pieces most time I have opened the can. Good flavor too.
These mushrooms are tasty. They are pieces vs. whole mushrooms, but if you don't mind that, the quality and flavor are good. The only off-putting thing is, the Walmart in our area puts dented cans, damaged packages, etc. in the curbside orders. Items they know a customer would not buy off the shelf. We return the stuff to Walmart immediately. Come on Walmart, you can do better than this.
One out of the eight cans of mushrooms was very badly dented, so I'll have to throw it away. They arrived loose in a box with other items. Other than that, I've used this brand before and was satisfied with the quality (canned mushrooms will always be a poor substitute for fresh).
Three out of 8 cans were dented ,they were delievered in a paper envelope which I'm sure is why they were dented ! If I wanted to purchase dented cans I'd go to a dented can discount store .i don't expect to pay for regular price for a dented can . I don't purchase any can goods dented !
These mushrooms themselves are fine. The issue is the can. I ordered a pack of of these, have opened, or tried to open, two so far. Both have been extremely problematic. They come with pull loops that do not work and will break off without opening the can. My husband tried them as well, but they did not work as they were meant to work. I got out the can opener, and was able to go around the top. The liquid could be drained out, but it still would not open to let out the mushrooms. I ended up prying up the lid at that point using scissors. I nearly cut myself in the process, but did finally manage to free the mushrooms from their metal prison. This turned into way too much work for the dish I was making. Took almost 20 minutes of struggling. Also, I thought these cans at 6 pounces would have more mushrooms than the usual 4 ounce cans I'd been using. I can't swear for sure, but it seemed like about the same amount. Unless Walmart fixes their cans, I do not recommend buying these. Look elsewhere.
