[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Floor was easy to lay & looks great - will offer good protection from gym equiptment.
10mm gray pebble tiles are a great lower cost solution for our workout area. They were shipped the next day and arrived ahead of schedule. We had them installed very quickly. All edges fit tightly as advertised. These tiles trim very easily with a razor knife and straight edge. We decided to order another 15 to extend our finished area. Customer Service rep verified for us that the new order would be from the same dye lot as per my request. All went as planned. Very satisfied with Greatmats.
Is it wrong to get so excited about gym mats? I am thrilled with my purchase so far. Granted I've only had this down in my home gym for a couple of days. Installation is super easy. These mats are pretty firm (which is what I wanted). If you want something to jump on and save your knees from high impact, you may want a a more forgiving foam. I am using this to protect my weights and my floors. I wanted something a little heavy duty...but not massive rubber flooring. I was very happy to find this company and this product.
I used Home Gym mats for my daughters dance sub-floor and they worked perfectly. Liked them so much i used them for my entire basement gym. The product is great quality and easy to install. Greatmats also has some great customer service and helps with selection and is there for any questions. Thanks Greatmats!
Really nice product and fairly simple installation if you have had prior experience making material cuts for the final pieces. Ordered for no waste and had none. The mats laid flat and after rolling the edges, the floor is virtually seamless. The floor has a small amount of resilience, but basically smooth and ready to accept gym equipment, weight stacks or yoga mats. Would recommend and use this mat system again without hesitation. Nice product and good price/value.
We replaced about 425 sq ft of carpet in our lower level with Greatmats flooring. The previous owners had the lower level set up as a second living room; we use it for exercising. The flooring arrived quickly. It took about six hours total to install it; much of that was due to a bunch of angles. The flooring is easy to cut. I recommend starting with a squared wall first, then save any weird angles for last. The only criticism I have is that traction is not that great; I thought it would be a bit more tacky. I normally wear lightweight shoes with EVA cushion and no blown rubber outsole, and they are pretty slippery on the floor mats. Overall, we really like the flooring. It's just the right firmness, it fit under the baseboards, and our equipment sits on it just fine. The black color looks fine with our dark tile flooring. Thank you, Greatmats.
I turned half my basement into a gym so ordered the "Home Gym Mats Pebble 10 mm Black." I did some shopping around and determined that linking puzzle type mats were my choice (we move often enough that I would like to take them with me) and the price was right! Much to my chagrin, after putting them down my husband dropped 100 lb. dumbbells on them, so they definitely get banged up, but they were easy to pull up and see if my flooring (laminate) underneath got dinged up, and not a scratch. After my original order I expanded my gym by another 16 square feet, so ordered more, and easy peasy to add on to the original order. Great product for great price.
Overall not a bad product. Easy to install and affordable. Not as suited for lifting as they say. Very light and not very strong. Also I found my second box was sized slightly larger (1-2mm) causing a noticeable seam and the tiles not to sit flush. Not super happy with the product
Overall, I'm happy with the way the floor came out. The install was an absolute breeze. I have two issues though. First, the floor is much slicker/slippery than I would like. Even in bare feet, it's too slippery to do yoga, or some stretching exercises. Second, the surface mars very easily. Just rolling in the Peloton, the wheels made marks that haven't healed after several weeks. The attached picture shows a mark left by the carpet installers tool after letting it sit on the floor for a few minutes.
These aren't consistent in their thickness and don't look good when connected together. I ordered many of these before to cover a gym floor and they all mated together very nicely, hardly showing the seams. This time I ordered 8 squares to replace damaged squares on my existing floor and 3 are the same thickness and mate nicely with my existing squares, while the other 5 are off significantly, showing a pronounced ledge where the squares connect. I know that they have this disclaimer on their site, but they really should be matching the pieces to mate together properly, at least in the same order.
