I was so thrilled to find that Walmart carries Halloumi - and at a really decent price! in fact, i am always impressed at the wide range of grocery options they have - beyond what most grocery stores offer. My only wish is that all their stores carried these items and not just the few super centers which aren't as close and don't deliver to me. That would be ideal.
This is a very good cheese to use for making shish kabobs. It was my first time trying it and it tastes great. Just be warned that it is a very salty cheese so a little goes a long way. It does not melt so it won't work for a recipe that would require melted cheese.
I love this brand of Halloumi! Thinly slice, cover in garlic and honey, then grill it in a pan on the stovetop. Works great in a salad, protien bowl, or on top of naan with hummus as a snack. You can even season it up, grill it, and use it as a meat substitute in a sandwich.
Absolutely Fantastic!!!!😄 It is a lot like feta cheese but with a spongy texture, which keeps it together, unlike the crumbled texture of feta. It tastes a lot like feta and is just as salty. It is Fantastic sautéed in a little GOOD EVOO then dipped in Sesame Oil!!! It is also very tasty right out of the package crumbled on salads. I will certainly purchase this again and probably more than feta cheese because of texture/it holds together and is quite versatile. Thank you, Walmart, for selling a Wonderful Product!!!
I really enjoyed this cheese . I usually don't consider anything but cow milks cheese . But this has such a light texture and flavor . Really nice to have a variety . I used it on Mexican foods and in an egg dish and it paired well in both so it's quite versatile !
very tasty, nice and salty, grills up well. good price. they often say they have it in stock when they dont, so don't rely on getting it but it's a nice to have
A really remarkable "cheese experience"-you can broil this cheese and it dosn't mel, but becomes a new sort of protein for your meals.
Its in brine so expect salty. Served with a salad and roasted, spiced pumkin seeds its a great vegetarian entree.
This is good cheese but overpriced. I won't be reviewing the taste because taste is subjective. One person's tasty treat is another's yuk. I'd say that if you love cheese in general, you should give this one a try. We tried this one for taste testing. It passed with greatness but cost makes it less appetizing. Halloumi is a blend of 3 livestock milks which fits well with our preferred A2 dairy products (very hard to find) and the preferred goat and sheep cheeses. Because of the shortages and/or high costs of authentic (non-bovine) cheeses like real Feta, Pecorino, and Menchego, we've begun these from online sources. Shipped directly in ice-pack containers, it's hard to believe that these "specialty" cheeses are less expensive than picking them up from a mass-scaled local store that you'd think would get better contract deals and be more cost worthy. Shame. So far as the Greco brand Halloumi cheese, we'll buy it again in a small amount if we're running low or waiting for our next online specialty cheese order. 5 stars for carrying it. 1 star taken for the price. As always, I'm happy to have a choice.
I did not like the taste or texture of this particular cheese. I took cheese down the hall having neighbor taste buds involved. One out of 10 apartments only one said it was acceptable.
