Best Battery Powered Saw

John B. August 28, 2025

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Easily assembled and most effective , sharp chain cut though hard-wood like hot knife through butter.

Very pleased with the Greenworks 40 volt chainsaw.

John Billodeaux September 1, 2021

This saw is amazing! I certainly can and do recommend it. I have owned gasoline fueled saws in the past and have had to contend with mixing gas and oil, disposing of unused mixture when it became out dated, trying to start a saw that had been unused for a while, and visits to the service center for maintenance. None of that with a Greenworks cordless chainsaw. Just push a button and it's on. The last tree I cut down was a little over 16 inches in diameter and I had no problem with this saw. It's also a dream to use during the stop and go cutting when bucking. My first Greenworks 16”40 volt cordless saw was lost in a recent flood and I didn't hesitate to buy another.

My second Greenworks saw

pgc1123 October 19, 2018

I bought this saw to have a lighter saw for use at home. I have a Greenworks 80V saw for farm use some distance away. Both saws are well worth the money. I don't use chainsaws enough to be comfortable with them. An electric saw is simpler to operate and seems to me to be safer--less noise, no smoke, and you don't start the saw until you have it in position to make the cut. The batteries have all the capacity that I need and more. If you plan on doing extended saw work you may want a second battery.

Great saw overall

Midwest Hacker February 16, 2019

I have 2 gas saws and "had" a competitors model in 60V. The Greenworks saw beat the other battery saw easily. Power was much more linear. Batteries lasted longer. Overall the Greenworks was even quieter. I have 5 other Greenworks tools but got sucked in by advertising for the competitors 60V. Lesson learned, stick with what you know.

Stevie j June 10, 2018

this chainsaw is perfect for the home use , half a tree came down in the last storm and this saw cut like a dream , smooth running , feels real solid . made a lot of cuts and did not run the battery out . already had bought the g-max 40v pole hedge trimmer so have a battery back up if I need . will be looking at more greenworks tools in the future . thanks

A Chain, a Saw, Job Conquered

Stephen970 April 14, 2021

This is my 4th Greenworks tool and my second chainsaw which, I suspect, says all I need to say about Greenworks. I have a mower and string trimmer that use the same battery system so there is never a worry about being ready to take on a task. I bought my brother the chainsaw for Christmas and helped him clear his property with it. Typical Greenworks traits: Low noise, no fumes and does the job with no fuss.

Great performance

Yellowrosey August 22, 2018

I bought this about 5 years ago a16 blade green work brushless chainsaw. And I just want to say that it is the best chainsaw I have ever used and I bought another one because the other one I used to death I cut my own wood and I split it not with the chainsaw but with aynax but I have found that this product is the best thank you.

Pretty good

Ben walley October 13, 2025

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Haven't used it much yet but it's powerful enough to cut through a 16" log fairly easily. Not as easily as a good gas chainsaw, but it's convenient
